Thanks Carol! :love-hug1 The vet tech said it might take a few months for his hair to grow back, but that it should grow back nicely and cover up the scar....I asked about emu oil after the stitches come out, but they didn't really say anything...I am going to use some anyway. I think it will help greatly! When they took the tubes out today..he didn't even seem to feel it...boy, I felt it  YUCK...I hate watching that stuff!! |
THANK YOU CINDY!!! :love-hug1 We got our package in today and the bandage for Rusty is going to go on him in just a few minutes.....in my earlier post, I commented on how the vet tech didn't rebandage him, but told us to keep the holes from where the tubes were clean...aurgh...anyway, perfect timing and so thoughtful! Thank you again my dear friend!! |
Just updating......Rusty got his stitches out today! Woohoo:yay_jump: They said he is healing nicely. They still didn't seem to think much of the emu oil idea, but I am going to try it anyway. I also found out that my normal vet is a new grandmother, so that is where she has been....I remember her mentioning that she was going to be a grandmother around Christmas time, but I didn't know when...anyway, she is coming back on Monday! Thank goodness! Thanks again for all your thoughts and kind words...it really means a lot!:love-hug1 |
Yay! Glad Rusty is gonna be OK. I've also heard that emu oil is good for their skin and healing cuts.:) |
So glad to hear Rusty is healing so well. He seems like such a sweet boy. |
I'm so happy Rusty is on the mend. Go for the Emu Oil - that stuff can work miracles. I have a friend who used to raise Emu's and she gave me some oil to try. It's the greatest stuff for so many things. |
So Glad Rusty is doing well.. He looks so sweet in those last pictures you Posted. |
yay!! I'm glad to hear Rusty is doing so well!!! :) |
3 Attachment(s) Just wanted to send a little update on Rusty...... Here are some pictures of Rusty today Attachment 195175Attachment 195176Attachment 195177 We had his tubes on last Wednesday and his stitches out Friday. We have been using Emu Oil on the area (note the dark greasey looking hair) and it looks great! Can you believe that all of that happened 10 days ago and it already looks this good!!!:yay_jump: He should be all healed up in no time...still taking antiboitics though (only 4 more days of those). AND his hairs seems to be growing back fast where they shaved it! Hope I haven't bored you w/ his updates...thanks for listening!:love-hug1 |
Wow! I think that emu oil must really be helping. It looks great! You are such a good mama to your doggies! |
he does look better. How are his spirits? Don't you wish he could just speak English and tell you what happened |
I do wish we knew what happened.....but we can only guess at what the vets have said and what we think, etc. His spirit is great! He is sooo hyper and enjoying life....as if nothing happened. In fact, I think I am glad  this happened (not in a bad way...at all)...but, he has learned to communicate with us better and trust us more, etc. He is such a little cuddle bug now and just acts differently (in a better way)....I can't really explain it....... |
isn't it amazing how quickly they bounce back |
Oh my goodness, I just found this thread and my heart is breaking for you. As I read it from the beginning I had tears in my eyes. Poor baby. And what a trooper. I am so glad you saw it and got him to the vet in time for good help. It looks as if he is healing well and has good spirits. So scary. I would not let my dogs out of my sight, no matter what size they are, if that ever happened to them. 30 acres of land is really BIG! And did you say wild boars???? Yikes! We panic here when we see raccoon prints on the hood of the car in the winter. I have read other posts by you and think you are very sweet and caring. But I do not know the story behind Rusty. only good thoughts being sent your way! I will look for updates. |
Don't know how in the heck I missed this but am so glad to read Rusty is on the road to recovery! |
