Oh poor dog.It does not look like an animal fight at all.Do you have machinery around that he could of been digging then crawled under and when came out got sliced?? Does not look like barbed wire either that is always really jagged,it looks too clean of a cut. It looks easy to stitch up and I am sure your vet will put him on antibiotics for infection. He will probably be shaved and look a little funny after wards but the poor honey I feel so sorry for him. It must have been painful and he sat there so nice for those pics you took of it. I do hope he mends up well. |
Poor Rusty, that looks painful. Looks to me like he either tried to go under something or got too close to something very sharp. I'll send a prayer up for Rusty...and for you too 'cause I know you are very worried. |
Well, it is late afternoon and DH hadn't heard from the vet...so he got pretty PO'ed and called the vet and she has been in two emergency surgeries and hasn't been back to check on Rusty (aurgh)...DH said that the vet would call him once she was out of surgery. We know that there are other babies that are in need of help too...but the WAIT.....oh the wait is so looooong and hard! I will send out an update when I know something else! Thanks for everyone's thoughts and kind words and prayers! |
oh WOW that's bad looking but lucky - not alot of bleeding ....he may have crawled under something - poor guy ~ I hope you hear back from the vet soon - they'll know and good luck with Rusty !! I remember his story very well - he looks like such a little trooper with his war wounds :( |
AAAWWW poor baby! I will keep him in my prayers. That is a nasty cut.. it just amazes me how much pain they can take and while in pain they still wag their tails at us. Thats the love they have for us! |

You know, I just realized, Rusty hasn't eaten just yesterday afternoon!! That poor thing...alone in the cage at the vet...hungry, hurt....oh my!!! :cry8: |
Oh my, that looks so sore. I hope Rusty will be just fine. My thoughts are with you all. Sheilagh |

I can't understand why some people are cruel to these babies either. They love you no matter what! I know you must feel so anxious now...trust me I know the feeling. All you want is a phone call.. And then knowing that you are not there with him makes it worse on us. Please give him lots of hugs and kisses from us.....We're thinking about him! |
oh my gosh! Those pictures were so hard to look at. Poor Rusty! It definetly looks like he got it caught on a fence. Its a very clean cut, so I doubt a person/animal, etc., did it. Please let us know what the vet says! Sending huge hugs to you and Rusty! |
I feel so bad for Rusty! :( I keep checking in to see if he is okay. Sending warm hugs from me and Lucy... |
Poor Rusty! What a trooper! If I had a huge cut like that I don't think I would been as well behaived as him. I hope you hear good news from the vet soon. My friend had a cat that stayed mostly outside and she came home with a big straight gash one day. We took her to the vet and after a cleaning and a round of antibiotics the cat was fine! I'm sure Rusty will forget all about it in no time! |
Update DH just called...he is on his way to go pick him up:yay_jump: The vet said it was just a minor (MINOR -- does that look minor:rolleyes:) laceration and put him on antibiotics....he did say what she did regarding the wound (cleaning, shaving, what meds, etc)...he did say that she didn't put stitches on the gash though....I guess that might have been because there wasn't enough skin left in that area or something?! :scratchhe AND he didn't say if she said anything about what she might have thought happened. Anyway, he is FINALLY on his way home! :yay_jump: Watch for updates and Rusty pictures later!!! Thanks again for all your kind words and prayers! |
I'm hoping Rusty gets a steak for dinner. :D That cut looked so nasty, poor baby. |
I'm so happy he is okay! Warm hugs from me and Lucy :) |
I am glad Rusty is okay. I remember his story. I hope nobody did that to him. Hopefully it was just an accident. |
