Prayer's coming Andrew's way for a speedy recovery. I hope he's starting to feel better. It's always so scary when our children have to go through these frightening times. I hope your more relaxed too now mom. |
I'm just now seeing this...... so sorry he needed surgery and shame on them for not getting to it in time, causing more problems. I'll keep him (and ya'll) in my thoughts. |
Prayers coming your way..... |
A teary day Hi, thanks for your continued good thoughts and prayers. Today was not so great, Andrew was very uncomfortable, the nurse just gave him tylenol because she didn't want him sleepy so that he could get up and walk. He did walk but he was in quite a bit of pain. I'm thinking it may be more gas pain than surgery, he seems to feel it is both. He cried a few times today, we both did, because I can't stand to see a child cry let alone my own without joining :( in the tear fest. He cried because he misses Jazzie and Zander, he cried because even though he likes being pampered he doesn't want to be in the hospital anymore, he cried because of the pain, he said: "I'd rather be in school than have this pain." :( I held him, encouraged him, reminded him that many wonderful YTERS are praying for him, that God listens & He will get better. The doc is talking about putting in a PICC which is some type of IV in the chest area, to put nutrients in and antibiotics, he would have to be sedated. I'm not sure the why, since Andrew is keeping liquids down & he is already getting an IV. Tom & I will be getting to the bottom of this, it sounds a bit frightening. That's it for now, many long days, I would like to be home by Sunday, I pray that is what God has in store for us. You guys are the best, you truly are. |
Sorry this is so hard on both of you. He is going through so much at such a young age. What a wonderfully caring mom you are. Sending more prayers - Dear Lord, Please lay your healing hands on Andrew's body, lift the infection out, strengthen him in body, mind and spirit. Lord, guide the doctors and his caregivers. May they have your wisdom. Bring his parents peace and solid rest. Lord we pray for a speedy recovery and for the family to soon be reunited under the roof of their own home. Amen. |
Awe I am just now seeing this. I Hope and Pray Andrew gets well soon ((((HUGS))) to you and him... |

Just saw this thread tonight. I'm so glad that so many prayers have already been sent up for Andrew, and that although it's still tough for him, he was spared from something so dangerous. I had to sadly chuckle at his "I'd rather be in school comment". My daughter had two horrible spinal surgeries as a child. Please know that at some point, this will all be behind you, and you will only be left with a handful of those humorous remarks that will make great stories when the pain and fear is gone. :) |
I am just seeing this tonight. Your son Andrew, you and your family are in my prayers and thoughts. Hang in there mom. It will all be ok. Lots of hugs and yorkies kisses to you all. :animal-pa |
Praying for a speedy recovery. |
Thanks again for the awesome prayers and yes, everyday takes us closer to this all being behind us. Thank you very much. :) |
Getting better Hi, thanks for your prayers and good wishes. Andrew had a tough day Wednesday, as well as night. The antibiotics did quite a number on him. Yesterday I found out why! He was being given some strong antibiotics, BUTTT he was supposed to be on food for these antibiotics. SOMEONE forgot to change or notify that he could go to solids, so here he was on liquids for 3 days and mega doses of antibiotics!! No wonder he was in so much stomach pain, yet when we mentioned to the nurses, his pain, they were not paying full attention and kept telling us he had to get up and walk they did not connect it to the antibiotics killing his stomach!! RRRRRRRRRRrrrr!! Yesterday, 3 drs. stopped by, only one of them put it together, the moment he was given food he was a different child, it was like having a wilted plant and giving it water and watching the plant plump up again. He had a much better day, fever sort of hovered in the 100.5 and less. The dr. said there is a window where an abcess can occur, or infection. I am hoping that we are out of the woods by today! The hospital has a floor that has a library, game rooms for different ages and even a radio station within the hospital. Andrew felt well enough to lounge in the room, he played the part of a guest dj, his name was Daring Andrew (yikes, quite fitting). Dawn (my older daughter) had brought over a joke book so he said a few jokes on air between brakes . It was the best I've seen him so far, huge difference from yesterday. Your prayers at work. |
