Time to recover Hi everyone, thanks for the warm thoughts and prayers. Yesterday the wait was excrutiating. We arrived at TX childrens at 4ish, we had to start over in an ER. It took forever and my persistance to get the iv hooked back, it was not till after 6:30 pm that they finally showed up with antibiotics. He had come with a bag of antibiotics but it was thrown away when we got to TCH :confused: . We were told it would be a couple of hours before surgery. Meanwhile Andrew was soo thirsty but he was not allowed to drink. Finally after my bugging, he was taken to surgery at 9ish, only to have to wait there some more. It was 10pm when the docs got serious and took him in for surgery. At 11pm we were told his appendice was out but it had burst and spread. He will require HEAVY doses of antibiotics to keep an infection from occurring, pray for an abcess not to form. The doc guesstimates Andrew will be in the hospital at least 1 week or more :( . I am so sorry that there was such a delay yesterday. Praying that Andrew is much more comfortable today. Praying for a speedy recovery to cut that hospital time down. |

OH goodness, how scary:eek: :cry: I'm glad he's okay, it seems like if you didn't speak up, he could have taken a turn for the worst:( :hands: Prayers on the way that he heals quickly! |
Im sooooooooooooooo sorry your son had to go through this... and soooooooooooooooooo sorry you and your dh have to go through this too... I hope he recovers fast... hugs and I will be praying for all of you! |

Update Hi, thanks for your care and support. Andrew had a tough night due to a reaction from antibiotics but stayed pretty stable throughout the day. Still on liquids, the doc is giving his bowels a break. He is being given 3 antibiotics or more a day, several times a day. The docs are monitoring making sure there isn\'t an infection brewing. It can take up to 4 days for it to flare up. So far his temps have stayed at 100. Today there was a spike but it went down again. My hubby and I are taking turns staying with him.
