I have tried drinking hot teas but the smell just makes me want to puke. does anyone have any advice? I am 9 weeks pregnant so have to be careful what I take. This is no fun :( |
I'm sorry :( I have no idea, but just wanted to say I hope you feel better soon |

Can you try some steam to help relieve the conjestion? Run the shower and sit in the room when it's all steemed up. Just try and rest and drink lots of fluids. I hope you feel better soon. Mornng sickness is bad enough but then a bad cold, that stinks |

I have the Vics personal steam inhaler and it has helped me tons since I've been sick nearly all winter long. It works great :) Hope you feel better! |
So sorry about being sick. I am on the tail end of that cold and everyone at work got it. Try some ginger for your nausea. Take care of yourself and your little one. Hope you feel better soon. |
There's also something that you throw in the shower to help break up the congestion - I can't remember the name and since you do not take it internally, it should be fine to use - but I'd check the label to be sure. |
daughter is due any day she has the same thing her dr said sudafed. other then that time, it seem to be going around and getting alot of people:( |
before you take anything, check with your doctor - sometimes you can take different things in different trimesters. |
Theres noy much you can take for it being pregnant, Hope you feel better soon, Just drink plenty of water. |
when I was 11 weeks pregnant, i was given the 'ok' to take sudafed and it helped tremendously.. at the time i also was a really bad insomniac (well still am lol).. and was given ambien.. but now i can't remember if he said it was safe to take during the whole pregnancy or just the 1st tri or 2nd tri... cause i'm in my last trimester and i know there are some meds you can take early on but can't take later (like Motrin cause it closes the ductus arteriosis early).. anywho, hope you feel better! you should try the preggy pops they help the nausea :) but of course, always ask your ob because they know best... and all Ob doctors are different.. so just because 1 person says their doc can take this, doesn't mean your doc will say you can too ;) |
ocean One good thing about south Florida is...the ocean! Swimming in salt water, laying in the sun will cure just about anything..so take a trip to the sun and sea...a expensive cure I know!!! |
I just got over that bad flu and the nin drowsy sudafed is what the Doctor told me to use and it really helped, BUT as your doctor before using anything. Mine went into bronchitis so be very careful and take it easy. Hope you feel better real soon |
Go to the drugstore and get yourself a Neti Pot. You use a special non-iodized salt with warm water and it literally cleans out the sinus cavities. Since pregnancy causes stuffiness in general, I think you will find it makes a huge difference!!!!! Use it daily. Hope you feel better soon. |
For your sore throat and nausea, try sucking on Jelly Beans...I know those have worked wonders for pregnant women I know :) Also, when I feel nauseous (which is not uncommon, I have a weak stomach, and am sensitive to certain smells, motion sickness, and even being nervous can make me sick!)...anyway, I suck on Ginger Altoids. They can be hard to find, and the first one or two doesn't taste very good, but ginger is a natural anti-nausea remedy, and they kind of burn like a regular Altoid does, so it soothes your throat and clears sinuses. |
I wish I had some advice to give, but I don't. I just wanted to say I hope you feel better soon and find some relief to your symptons.:( |
I think I'm going to try one.Mandee here is a video on how to use one. I hope you feel better soon. Quote:

I agree with the Neti Pot and have suggested it to a few others. It REALLY works and once you try it you will wonder why you didn't try it before .... |
It's so tough when your pregnant. Just get under those blankies with that baby and get better. |
Sorry to hear your sick Mandee. For a sore throat, try lemon and honey tea from Lipton. It really does help the throat. They also make the ginger tea which is suppose to calm the stomach. You can also get ginger hard candy in a health food store. I bought them for my daugher, who spent three months hooked up to IV each time she was pregnant. All she did was throw up. I don't think it helped her because she couldn't put anything in her mouth without gagging:( But ginger is really suppose to help with the stomach from being upset. Anything is worth a try. To be honest, I think that warm water and salt is still the #1 throat releifer. I don't think that's a word:) Buddy and I hope your feel better real soon. |
Feeling any better, Mandee? |

I just tried to go take a hot shower to see if that helped any but I got in and about 1 minute later realized my daughter had used up all of the hot water. That has never happened in our house before!!!!!!!!!! so I was super disappointed. I am just waiting a bit so I can try again...that is if I don't fall asleep first. |
