| That's so sad... I am going to cry... I am crying... Those poor babies... I wish that I could do something to stop that stuff... I just post things and get the word out, I figure if I cant do anything else, at least I can let other ppl know, that way maybe someone can do something.

Just has some statements we have all heard before. Reasons why some animals are surrendered. "I'm moving." "I want a meaner dog to protect me." "He eats too much." "Starting school, no time." "My dog has fleas." "My new boyfriend does not like my cat." "I got a new job and don't want cat hair on me." "She had kittens and I want one of them instead." "The dog is too small." "Dog did not match the furniture." "We're going to have a baby." "I'm sure she will be adopted."

| Unfortunately, I have heard all these excuses and more when volunteering at shelters. I wish more people would adopt rather than buy. A lot of ppl convince themselves that the animals in shelters will find homes, but sadly that isn't the case. Here over 30 dog per WEEK are killed and only about 10 are adopted or go to rescues. Many ppl are convince that their arent any purebreds in shelters, or all shelter animals have issues, but again, that couldn't be further from the truth. I have never bought an animal, but yet I've been lucky enough to own a purebred Bichon (owners moved off and left to fend for herself), a purebred lab, a yorkie/chi mix (turned in b/c she was a door bolter), a yorkie/poodle mix, and a couple mutties. I have also fostered (all came from shelter) a purebred poodle pup, a 4 lb adult poodle, a purebred chi, a JRT/poodle mix, a boxer mix, and a basenji mix. GREAT dogs can be found at the shelter!

| Its unfortunate that alot of people overlook shelters, to only end up going to a pet store. People that are looking for a pure breed from a pet store, need to realize that a pure breed still does the same things as any other dog.
