Thank you - sad ending(sort of) to the story. She was in 11th grade, taking a couple college courses with her hs courses, making Dean's list, honor roll, able to graduate hs a year early, already had a full scholarship to Coastal Carolina or a partial scholarship to any other SC college when my dh died and we had to move back to PA. When she tried to register in school, they wouldn't accept her credits (yes, this backwoods area is still fighting the Civil War) and told her she would have to start the following year in the 10th grade. That would make her 20 when she graduated. So, she dropped out, went back to SC on her own, took adult ed and graduated in the top 5% of the state, made National Honor Society and did it all before the rest of her original hs class in SC graduated. We are very proud. And I applaud any student that is offered the chance to take the John Hopkins PSAT's. They are very hard and very scarey. But to take them is such a great experience and it gives the students a confidence that they might not have had otherwise. It's a wonderful opportunity - I just wish it could be offered to all students.

How fabulous!! My daughter started taking these when she was 12 also. My mom said can she go to college now - & I had to say yep - she scored higher than most hs seniors!! Every other yr she took the SAT & the next yr the ACT. In the end her scores were very high 35 out of 36 on ACT -- making way for her to attend and choose from a wide variety of the top colleges this year.

Make sure she takes advantage of the opportunity the next time. Statistics show that students do improve every time they take it. Any anxiety she feels will dissipate with each experience with the exams. My daughter never started studying for them until her sophomore yr & then just really focusing on the areas she knew she needed the most work.

But my silly girl loved the ACT & SAT study guides. If you need help choosing some good ones pm me. Plus she can sign up at collegeboard for the question of the day. They'll email a sample question every day - my daughter & I would both get them - I still do - keeps the old brain sharp.

Plus freerice.com is a great game to help the hungry & build up the vocab
