| Prison Paws for Humanity This is very interesting! There is a women's prison in Billings, Montana that takes in dogs for training. It is a 30 day program that teaches basic manners and works its way up as the dogs "pass" each skill. They start with sit, sit and stay, down, down and stay, stand, come and heel. They work on issues pertaining to the dog. Because each dog has their own experienced trainer, the dogs are taught at their own pace, they are not held up because of slow learners or rushed because of genius dogs. The trainers are with the dogs 24/7 so there is plenty of attention for the dogs who might suffer form separation anxiety. After the dog completes the 30 day program, the owner spends about an hour with the trainer to learn the commands and how to execute them properly. The program takes dogs of all ages and breeds. They have trained dogs to be service dogs for people with disabilities, rescue dogs and the family fido with questionable manners. The rescue dogs they train are put up for adoption. I have attached a link to an article and video clip. Oh yeah, the program is only $200! http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/91487.aspx Here's their website, though there isn't a lot of info on it: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/MT53.html My sister knows someone who took her dog to this facility and she now has a well mannered, obedient dog! I'd give it a try, but couldn't stand to be without my little stinkers for 30 days! I did a search on Prison Pets for Humanity and found some interesting things...this program not only helps the dogs, but the inmates too. They are given something to focus on, build self confidence and reason to live and teaches them patience and consistency.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | That is such a great program. I saw a show on something similar and thought it was a good idea.
