I cry too easily! Does anyone know how to stop yourself from crying. I swear I cry at the drop of a hat. It isn't depression it is something I have done all of my life. For example My boss and I got into a discussion about my job (I'm trying to get more hours" and she had to tell me I didn't get what I wanted. I, like a fool, teared up because I was so disappointed. I know it is understandable to be disappointed but to cry? I cry every time Lassie comes home too. Sigh. Any suggestions? |
I know exactly what you are talking about because I am the same way. I cry when I'm sad, I cry when someone else starts crying, I cry when I'm happy, I cry when I see a touching movie or show, I cry when I'm really angry, sometimes my crying even makes others cry. It's frustrating sometimes when you're really mad but you wind up starting to cry and I hate that. Not sure why I am that way. Mostly I think I am really sensitive to how others feel and I have a lot of empathy for others so I try to tell myself it's a good thing but sometimes I wish I could control it more. But I guess it's better to let things out than hold them in, right? And it's just me and I've come to accept that I'm really not so bad after all even if I do cry at the drop of a hat. :p |
Oh girl, I am the same way! I cry at EVERYTHING! And I HATE IT! |
Pass the Kleenex, please I, too, am a big cry baby. I hate it. |
me too... when i see someone cry,, im done... especially someone im close to... very sensitive, but its normal and thats ok |
i'm glad i'm not alone!! I cry ALL THE TIME! my b/f makes fun of me b/c i'll randomly just start crying when i watch tv, listen to music, see someone else cry.. |
Oh man can I relate.......I was always like that too but then one day I couldn't stop crying. I myself take antidepressants and it helps me a lot. I was extremely sensitive to every single thing and I was hard to live with because of it. I do believe it is a chemical imbalance. If you can live with it and it doesn't affect your day to day life then I wouldn't worry about it but you may find that someday the stress in your life will put you over the edge. If this happens go see your doctor. There is no reason to suffer. Everyone thinks antidepressants are for depression but I believe that our lifestyle uses up the supply of seratonin in our bodies and eventually we run out or just don't have enough to be balanced. I'm much happier now. I feel that my moods are a lot more steady but I am still able to cry under NORMAL situations. lol Like you I found it so embarrassing. I especially cried when I was angry and then I could never communicate properly and everything always got blown out of proportion. Good luck....I hope you get the information you need. Are you a right brain thinker???? If so that could explain a lot of it. Right brain thinkers tend to be extremely sensitive and passionate. I wouldn't want to be any other way but this is the down side to it. |

lol I write with my right hand too. Will be interesting to see if there are more of us on YT. Wouldn't doubt it because we are all so passionate about our furbabies and addicted to YT. |
I cry easily too. I am on antidepressants and I still do it. I am right handed also |
crying Wow that's me too! My husband got really concerned about it and encouraged me to talk to my friend who is a nurse practitioner and I also spoke with a counselor. They both suggested I get on antidrepressants/anxiety medication as well as get a companion for when my husband is away long hours. I was really nervous about being on "crazy meds" but decided to give it a shot. I got on Lexapro and got my yorkie Lexie and I'm a completely different person! I still cry sometimes but it is more few and far between and at appropriate situations. My solution, talk to your dr. and spend more time with our furry friends. They really are therapeutic. |
I can so relate, Iam a big time cryer, a big baby, in a good way though, I cry at everything, movies, yt, commercials, my babies, you name it , I cry it, thought i was the only one, feels good to know iam not alone:( :) |
I cry about sad animal stories or circumstances...more so than I do about people. |

I use to cry too easy and anything remotely sad depressed me, ie if I saw a homeless person, I would feel bad all day, road kill runied my day. I always felt I was too sensitive for this hard world but antidepressants have helped. I still am sad some but not as bad. I only take 1/2 the pill but I think I will start taking the whole one soon since I have been getting sad again. |
I cry when I get mad, frustrated, or angry. It really sucks especially in work environments when you are trying to find for your point. It makes you look like a whiner. I however, don't cry at other stuff & i dislike sad movies, not cause they make me cry but because i like to use movies as an escape from sad things. I however am starting to cry at more things now, like sad commercials & such. Also not to blow your theory, but I am righthanded & very good at math. |
Dont worry, I cry over work all the time as well. Its like I have a love/hate relationship with this place. The only reason I stay is 1) i really get along well with one of my bosses 2) they work well with my school schedule. But other than that I really hate it here, I feel overworked and under appreciated. Actually I feel taken for granted. WOW that felt good :) |
I am the SAME way. I should buy stock in Kleenex. I cry when I'm dissapointed, when I'm sad, when I see a sad movie/TV show. I'm also really sappy when it comes to music. I'm glad to know I'm not alone in the crying when mad thing. It drives me INSANE because when I'm mad I want to be mad, I don't want to cry lol. and when I see other people cry I'm gone. I don't care if its someone I'm really close to, or some random person on the street. it kills me. I think I'm a right brained thinker, because I'm really into the arts and things of that sort. I didn't know that could affect it. |
If you look at history, many Right Brain Thinkers actually committed suicide. Mozart being one of them. That's why I said if you find you can't control your crying and you feel it may be more go see your doctor. There is help out there if you need it. I was fine until I hit about 33 years of age. By that time I had a lot of stress in my life and it put me over the edge. There is nothing wrong with crying but those of us who have had troubles know what kind of crying I'm talking about. The crying does also go hand and hand with anxiety. This thread is great because it shows us that we are not alone and the amazing part is that a lot of us are right handed thinkers. Very sensitive and passionate etc. Many good qualities come with being a right handed thinker this is just one that is sometimes not so good. |
Right handed, here and i get choked up at EVERYTHING. So, I don't watch chick-flicks, not that THAT makes a big difference. I can barely make it thruAmerican Idol finals:rolleyes: . We are all just a big bunch of saps. I think I will run for The Sappy Club President:D . I figure, as long as the tears keep flowing, my tear ducts will never get clogged;) . Sad part is, I get mad, I cry, I can't talk when I cry, so I can't fight. I can't even have a good arguement. It's like my throat slams shut - no voice will come out. Oh well, it looks like I'm not alone:D . |

I'm 56 now and since 2 years I'm taking antidepressants and the crying stopped almost completely. Only if there is a really good reason then the tears come but not anymore just b/c the local high school band marches down the street... |

lol this made me laugh. I cry during every American Idol or Canadian Idol finale. The Sappy Club sounds great to me. I'm pretty sure that Beethoven committed suicide too. I'll have to double check. |
Sorry looks like Mozart and Beethoven's deaths were both questionable and never determined for sure, so people believed that they may have been suicides. Undetermined. |

I "well up" at sad things, or choke up. I don't actually all-out cry unless it's really bad. I wish I just let myself cry more. I "stuff it" down. I guess I grew up that way. I am a Right Brain (no math for this girl!) that is Right-handed, but I naturally was inclined to be Left-Handed but my dad wouldn't let me (said life is tough for lefties and would come pull the pen out of my left hand and put it in my right). They say thats bad to do, but I my dad was very loving and tender-hearted himself, he'd cry over things. I'm sensitive to things and usually have premonitions and what-not. Oh, fyi, I'm kinda Ambi-dextrous now, I can only open jars or turn on faucets left-handed. LOL!! |
Omg, you sound just like me. I cry at everything too - I always have...and I too hate it, it's so annoying! I am VERY emotional/sentimental...alot of women in my family are like this - a bunch of saps! lol. The other day a commercial was on T.V. and I started crying and it wasn't even really that sad! Hubby was like, OMG....you have got to be kidding me.... He is always making fun of me because I cry so much :( Errr, I hate it! |
seriously.. im the SAME way!! ;) i get it from my grandma, thats for sure!!:p |
