My husband will be with yours this spring. They wont tell us if it will be 1 year or 15 months though. I can tell you having done Iraq tours twice before that it is survivable. The bases now have phone service and internet and even some with fast food. If hes on a larger post it wont be total isolation from him. But it does suck. Im with you on the depression already I try not to think about it but Im soooo scared. I wish the war was over. If you ever need anything just drop me a hey, I totally understand. |
Saying prayers for a safe and speedy return |
I can only imagine how scary but you have to know how proud we are to have brave men like your husband stand up for all of us. Will be praying for his safe return. |
Wow I am sooo sorry!:( I will keep him in my prayers |
My son's been working for KBR, in Tikrit, Iraq, since April 2007. He's teaching carpentry to the locals. He worked there (Baghdad and Mosul) for a year (2004). It's very hard, but he always tells me it can be just as dangerous here. His 33rd birthday is on the 17th and it will be the first time in his life that he's more than two hours away from me. Hubby and I are leaving tonight to spend the weekend with his wife and two daughters (about two hours away). Please pass my SINCERE THANKS to your husband. Stay strong. |
I can only imagine how difficult this must be for all of you. Without men like your husband where would our country be? Bless him and all of those who give their lives to their country and to keep us safe. Prayer's coming for him to be safe, do what he has to do and come home to his loving family. Mickey, be strong for him, yourself and your children. Thank him from me for his will to serve and keep us all safe and free. |
Mickie, I can not even begin to understand what you must be going through but as a wife myself of my high school sweetheart it is so great to hear you are both still in love. I will be praying for you and your family. It sounds like you are such a strong and wonderful wife and I am asking GOD to watch over you all. :) Please know we are here to help you through this if you need us....even just to talk or vent. HUGS!! :love-hug3 BTW...I want to tell your husband thank you for all he does for our country and us who have the luxury of living at home. With out him we would not have the freedom we have...THANK YOU!! |
Prayers on the way:hands: I feel so awful for families of deployed soldiers, they are gone for so long:( Thank you to your husband for defending our country:love: |
Mickie - we'll be keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. I can't imagine how scary this is for everyone involved. There are at least a few YTers who have a loved one deployed right now. I hope you can find some comfort with them and knowing that your YT family is here for you always!! |
I'll be praying for you guys! Hopefully once he gets back you guys can leave Fort Hood. My cousin and her husband were stationed there for 2 1/2 years and were deployed for 12 months two times. I am so sorry to hear that he has to go. I know I live pretty far away but if you need anything just let me know. |
Oh my gosh, reading your post just hit me like a ton of bricks and gave me a shiver. I really don't know HOW military families do this - I mean, 15 mths??!! My heart just goes out to you - I really cannot imagine how this would feel. I don't know how I'd cope being away from my hubby for 15 mths, let alone having him in danger. Lots of hugs. |
Will say a prayer for him to arrive and return to your arms safely. God help us...why can't they stop all this fighting. You think if these politicians had to send their sons, daughters, husbands, wives, brothers and sisters there this would be going on so long. |
Praying for a safe tour and return. Try to enjoy everyday you have him here. Thank him from all of us for making this sacrifice of being away from his family. |
I am SO SO SORRY! My boyfriend is in the Army national guard and I luckily met him right after he got back from his first deployment to Kuwait. However, I know that another deployment is in our future when he graduates from college. It sucks. I will be praying for him and your family! |
(((Hugs))) Your family will be in my prayers! I nanny for a family who's dad is in the Army. He is now on his 3rd deployment to Iraq for 15 mnths. On his first deployment he left when his daughter (now 5), was only two wks old. The second time his wife was pregnant and had a two yr old and was gone until the baby was almost a year old. Not too long after that, he deployed again and by the time he gets back the oldest will be in Kindergarten. |
