I feel in love with okra when I was a pre-teen. I really liked it when my mom added it to the pot of garden peas (boiled okra)...yum yum!

Hello Fellow Okra Lovers!!!

I've been home in Louisiana for 2 glorious weeks!!! most of that time spent working ,, picking peas,, cutting okra, pulling watermelons,, putting up peaches,, BTW,, i picked, shelled and put up 80 bags of Purple Hull peas this year,, then hubby came home and bushhogged em down before i killed myself he said,,lol, but my okra still stands,, lol,,, and i'll be boiling me up a pot of it fresh here today,, YUM!!!!!!!!!!!

You lucky girl. I spent a lot of years canning and freezing veggies, wish I had the opportunity to do it again.

I just bought a small bag full of home grown okra - $1.99 per lb. Can you believe these prices?????? But boy oh boy are we gonna have us some good eats!

man $2 a lb ,, amazing aint it?,, but then back home i had to pay $5 for a gallon of milk,, nearly $3 for a loaf of bread,, just EVERYTHING going up but our pay! and one more reason to work so hard in the garden for me,, i can just about LIVE on my peas and cornbread!! and we've sold our watermelons for $3 each! and most are BIG melons!!! we even juiced a bunch and made our first watermelon wine!!!

OK, that's it. Since I can't go out shopping cause of my foot, I am going to call my son before he comes over today and see if he can find some okra for me at the local produce/meat market. I can't take this any more.

I had sugery on it a week ago and am supposed to stay off of it as much as possible. Man, it is hard!!!

Want to hear a good one???

My son stopped at the produce store last night and since he doesn't know what okra looks like, he asked the cashier, "Do you have okra?" To which she replied, "No, I don't think she works here."

He then explained that what okra was and she called the produce manager.

After all that, he found out they don't carry it.

Needless to say, okra isn't a big seller around here I guess.

Well, I tried the frozen okra from Wally world.

Very disappointing. I need to find some fresh soon or I shall wither away.....
