Whats the best Flat iron for LONG hair????
 

I currently use the MAXI GLIDE (anyone else have it???) But I notice I loose alot of hair when I straighten my hair. I'm wondering if the teeth are pulling my hair out???

My neice got a new one for xmas, I don't know the brand or how good it is, but it was bought at Sally's Beauty Supply and came with a holder which I thought was cool, cuz I never know where to put mine when its hot. I'd love a holder. It had a suction cup to stick it to your wall.

So whats the BEST straightner out there for long hair???

I bought my daughter a CHI. It was expensive, but it has lasted almost 2 years and going strong. She usually blows one up in about 4 months! She loves it and swears it is Sooooo much better than the $50.00 ones I was buying her.

Yep I was shocked as hell too but she said it was voted like top of the line and all that. They have it to spend like that. She did get my daughter one from Sally's that was like $25 and it looks good. I think as lon gas it's a ceramic one then your good to go.

I don't know what the best one is, but I have long hair (I just got it cut, but it was about half way down my back), and my flat iron is perfect. I have really, REALLY thick hair, and it still works very well. Its a CONAIR. It also has a curling iron that you can lock, so its there when you need it but it won't get in the way. It also has a lot of different heat settings, so you don't have to worry about burning your hair off lol. and it also has a good long handle. I always burn myself when I'm using my friend's irons or whatever, but I've never burned myself on this one. :)

WOW! You have the Maxi Glide?!?! I've always watched those infomercials and they look sooooooooo cool. Is the only reason you don't like it because it pulls your hair out? How long is your hair? Those things are expensive. Thats why I haven't bought one yet.

I just got the chi for christmas from my daughters and I LOVE it:) I have very thick unruly hair and it works wonders;)

I use the CHI everyday... LOVE IT!! I bought mine off of EBAY. ;)

I have a Wigo Oxy that I got at Ulta, and I use it every day and I've had it for about 2-3 years now! before I use to buy the cheap ones and I had to replace it once a year.

This one has the big iron on it, so its made for longer hair.

Try looking on consumer reports. They usually tell what the best products are for a reasonable price are. I bought my flat iron at a salon and its awesome. It heats up in three seconds and if you accidentally leave it on it turns its self off.

I use the maxiglide also and it works great. I dont lose much hair, maybe a strand or 2.

I just bought one called Forever by Herstyler http://www.herstyler.com/ I paid about $200.00 for it too. But, wow what a difference from any other flat iron I have ever owned before. Totally worth every penny.

There was a vendor in one of the malls in Dallas when we went to visit my sil and they had the best flat iron but I can't remember the name of it it was from france and it worked great I was having a frizzy hair day and they flattened my hair it didn't smell like it was burning and made my hair so straight and shiney then he curled a small section of my hair and said it would stay curled for a couple of days I washed my hair that night but it did stay curled for 6 hours with no hairspray. I will ask my sil if she remebers the name.

CHI is one of my favorites! But I am now using the FHI Platform flat iron, and it is my all time fave! I have had mine for almost 3 years now, and I use it on at least 8 people a day! (I do hair!) And its still works like brand new! It has the floating platelets so your iron glides thru the hair much better! But no matter what flat iron you use...you MUST use a thermal protective spray at all times!!!!!!!!

I am a HUGE fan of the CHI! It's what all of the professionals use around here. I highly recommend it. I have stick straight shoulder length hair, but I keep curly hair extensions in and it works incredible on those as well! It makes my hair smooth and sleek or you can use it like a curling iron and give yourself big curls!! I bought mine on ebay and I wanna say I paid $99 for it. It is definitely worth EVERY penny.

Chi is great but for a lot less $$ I love the conair infiniti, the skinny one

I was just at the mall 3 days ago and I was stopped by a vendor that wanted to demo their flat iron. Now normally I ignore these vendors and just keep on walking but I stopped. Well this girl took a Jose Eber flat iron and ironed my hair and it was really silky straight and soft! I couldn't believe it! I had absolutely no product in my hair at all and it was stick straight! I have tons and tons of hair and I normally have to use Rusk Str8 before drying and straightening spray while I flat iron my hair with my usual flat iron plus a cream afterwards for any frizzies. After demoing the flat iron she used a medium clampless curling iron and put 4 perfect ringlets in my hair. I've never seen my hair curl like that unless I had a perm. I asked her if I could try it and I did it. Well when she told me the price I was like no way and told her I would think about it. She then reduced the price for both so I bought them. Since I got them home I've flat ironed my whole head and yesterday I curled my whole head without one bit of product (which is actually bad...probably need a good thermal protectant spray:rolleyes: ) I ran my fingers through the curls and lightly sprayed hairspray. The curl stayed in all day and all night. Today I got up and I still have tons of curl! It is really unbelievable! I didn't wash my hair this a.m. and i have my hair in a ponytail.

I have heard Chi is really good and have heard nothing but good things about their brand but I love my Jose Eber irons. They claim to have a lifetime warranty and it says it on the box too. The salesgirl told me to keep the box and receipt. Hopefully these will last me for a few years. They weren't exactly cheap so will see. I think these are sold on Ebay too. Overall I am extremely pleased. :D

I currently use the CHI Turbo 1" which I purchased from my hairdresser. He has since changed to the Paul Mitchell Flat Iron which he likes better than the CHI

Thanks for all the great suggestions, I'm looking them up right now :) Will all these work with long hair? My hair is long - way past by bra line but not to my butt. Also, I try not to blow dry, so I need it to straighten, unruly, slepted on, messy hair :) Will these do that??? I have natural curl and it can be pretty curly with product and scruntching.

CHI is the best!!! I use it for my hair and its GREAT.........I'm been having it for about 2 years now :D

The flat iron I have has a temp setting and goes as high as 400 degrees so I think it would probably work.

My daughter has been begging for a CHI but I just can't see myself forking over the $$$!!! I am a cheapy...I buy the $30 from Walmart...have had great success...and my hair is also past my bra line. Been thinking of a new style...but can't bring myself to cut it just yet.;)

The BEST one I have EVER EVERRRR used is the GHD 1in professional. WOW!!! It does everything, practically. Its amazing. I used to think the CHI was the best until this. It retails for $250 and its worth EVERY RED CENT. And I mean that!

I dont even use a curling iron on my clients anymore because this curls effortlessly as well. Its so smooth!

All I see is Chi Chi Chi but I HATE Chi's. My best friend has one and uses it everyday and her hair is in the worst shape imaginable. I've also heard countless negative opinions on it about how most of the cords are faulty. After asking on other forums/journals I got a Sedu off of Folica.com and I wouldn't trade it for ANYTHING. It also came with a free bag to put it in if you're traveling and it's still warm or you can use it as a mat to set it on while you're using it. My hair used to be almost to my butt and it's what I used and now my hairs to right under my chin and I still use it. It makes my hair feel so soft and I don't even use a heat product or anything. I really recommend it. :thumbup: :thumbup:
