| What should I do and who should pay for my broken camera? I was out last night at a bar with some friends and we were taking pictures. One of my friends took my camera to show my other friend the picture, but the other friend inadvertantly knocked the camera to the ground. My camera lens is now broken and won't revert back into the camera The problem: this camera was a birthday present from my boyfriend and I only received it a few months ago...and there is only a manufacturer defect warranty, so it will likely have to be fixed at a high cost. Who should pay? Should I pay because it was an accident? Or should my friends pay because they were the ones who actually broke the camera? I'm really annoyed at myself for even bringing my camera out now...I love to take pictures and document fun stuff..but I regret EVER bringing it out

| Your friend who took the camera to show the other person should have offered to pay, but the person who broke the camera is really at fault. If I knocked someone's camera to the ground and broke it, I would insist on paying to repair or replace it.

| I strongly agree also. That is very unfortunate. Hope u can sit your friends down and come a solution, without losing a friendship.

| Since you are asking for opinions, here's mine... As you said, it was an accident. While I agree, it would've been nice of the person to offer to pay, I think accidents happen, and, ultimately, you chose to take your camera to a bar and let others use it (or look at it). If it were me, I would never think of asking them to pay. I am terribly sorry it is broken, its a real bummer when something new and expensive gets ruined. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My camera a Casio, broke I am not sure how but the lens would not come out and I sent it in to Casio and they fixed it for free. Give the mfg a try.

| Sorry that your camera is broken! Most firends would have offered to pay (or most of my friends would anyway).....I know it was an accident, and you are out a camera...maybe the cost of repair could be split?

| If your friend doesn't offer to pay then I say forget about it. It was an accident and not worth losing a friend over. Although, if she was a really good friend she would have offered to replace it or, at the minimum, offered to pay for half the price to replace it.

| I think if they were good friends they would have offered to pay for atleast half of the repair.

This sounds like the most equitable solution, although it would have been nice if your friend had offered to replace it. Things like this always got sticky. I would hate to lose a friend over something like that. However, she should have at the very least, made an offer.

You can try the mfg. You never know what they'll do for you. My dig. camera got broken by my 1yr. old. I don't have a clue what he did but the lens wouldn't come out. I sent it into Canon and they repaired it for free.

| I agree, it was you who took it to a bar. It was just an unfortunate accident. That said, if i had done that to my friends camera I would have totally offered to help replace it. Both of them should have, and maybe they'll surprise you and offer.
