wow, I am so sorry for your family and you are all in my prayers! Iagree with you though, it sounds like her husband is a big part of the problem...it sounds to me like he mentally abuses her. I would get her and the kids oout of his grasp asap.

Oh wow... that is VERY sad! I pray that she goes and gets the help she needs! I feel sooo very sad for woman who do not know their strength and worth as a full person, and shame on the man that makes them feel that way! My prayers are with your daughter and your family and hers.

I'm 50 years old and have been bi-polar since I was 9. It's not always easy, but it is manageable. Sometimes it can take a lot of work to get the meds right. May I suggest that she also have her thyroid checked as that could very well be part of the problem.

There's a great website - Bipolarhappens.com. Please check it out if you have a chance. There's loads of info, not only for the person suffering, but for those trying to offer support.

My prayers go out to your daughter, her children and your family. At least she's in a day and age when we're no longer treated like lepers, like I was in the beginning.

As for those who stop taking their meds - if they were diabetic, would they stop taking insulin? This is not simply a mental illness, it is physiological and requires medication.

I'm BiPolar and she really needs the help to live a normal life, which she can do on the right meds. I will definetly pray for her, and if she needs someone to talk to pm me and I'll give her my email address and try to help her into getting the help she needs. It really is an awful disease to suffer without proper meds.

My stepdtr and dtr's fiance are both Bi-Polar. After traveling some long and extremely bumpy roads, they are both finally getting it under control. It can be so dibilitating without the right meds and more importantly, the right dosages. I'll keep your dtr and the entire family in my prayers. It is very difficult for those close to someone suffering with it, to see what it does and not be able to make it go away.

Thank you everyone for your prayers and well wishes. She currently is on Lithium, depakote, Zanax and Lexapro and Klonopin. She has been on these medications for several months. She is supposed to be seeing a physciatrist but when she goes for her visit she has to the the Physcians Assistant. How can someone thats not a doctor prescribe these kinds of medications? Also, thyroid test were mentioned but never ordered. In the area that we live in, doctors are kind of limited and thats why were are seeking treatment elsewhere. I just hope we can convince her to go for treatment before the holidays but she wants so much to be with her children for Christmas. I just hope that she doesn't wait until it's to late. Right now she is very very ill. This is very hard on all of us, especially my husband. He has had two serious back surgeries and also has Parkinsons Disease.
