| ![]() I have just received a new Macbook and having been a PC person all my life and I don't have the foggiest idea what I am doing yet. The first thing I noticed is that there isn't a " right " click and for those of us who are used to using it to save graphics and such .. it is a bit confusing. I guess the first thing I need info on ( important stuff first ) is how do I use the emoticons here on YT? whenever I click to choose one it shows up as : ) for the smiley... or it inserts the the url location. Can anyone give me some suggestions on how I can use these on my Mac? |

| ![]() I am a macbook user so I might be able to help a bit.. your first concern,..the right click. if you use 2 fingers to tap on your track pad, that will bring the right click menu. BUT...that only works if you have your keyboard preferences set so that you don't have to click the button below the track pad in order to click. if you have that feature turned off, then you can simply tap your track pad with one finger and that is like a single click. if you tap it with 2 fingers one time, you get your right click menu. next question: the emoticons will show up all the same. if you click on a smiley, it will post the "code" for the smiley (or emoticon) instead of the actual picture. this is kinda handy because you will get familiar with the codes and then just start typing them instead of looking for them in the menu. hope i have not confused you more ![]()

| ![]() well to right click you hold Control and click the bar. and when you do choose the emotion thing that's how it will show up on your computer but when you put post you will see it as how you want it to show up. I just got a mac this summer after only being a PC person and i just LOVE IT>>> give it time ![]() |

| ![]() Thank you both so much. It's kind of frustrating and fun all at the same time. ![]() I couldn't get the two finger tapping to work, but I did find the instructions helpful and will definitely work on it. I have SO MUCH to learn, but I really like to work with graphics and copying to save them was just something I did not know how to do on this Mac. It was just something that I did without thinking on Windows. It's all so daunting to try and learn when I have five of these cuties trying to get my attention. ![]() |

| ![]() my toshiba died on my suddenly and i was forced to get a new laptop.. i really wanted a mac, but couldn't afford it lol, but i hear such good things about it.. i'm needing a about 2gb, and my co-worker said that 1gb mac is just as good as a 2gb pc, is this true? (im basically needing all the memory/hard drive for pictures and graphics for my little photo card business and website stuff i do) because if that's the case i might return this and try (really try!) to get a mac for xmas (if i can).. |

| ![]() for using the trackpad to click (and right click) instead of having to use the click button below the track pad, go to the apple at the top left of your screen. click that. then choose "system preferences". Then choose "keyboard and mouse". Then under the tab "trackpad", make sure that the box next to "clicking" is checked. i like this feature because you can "click" with the track pad OR with the button, whichever you feel like using ![]() ![]() i had always used windows until i met my husband, now i am an apple addict ![]() here are a few screen shots to help you visualize what I am talking about ![]()

| ![]() Enjoy the macbook! I've been a mac person majority of my life, I love them - just wish they weren't so darn expensive. The other ladies gave you the same advise that I would have given you. But I wanted to add, that you can buy a 2 button mouse to be able to continue to use your "right click".

My new Macbook is much smaller ( 13 inch screen ) than my Toshiba ( 17 inch screen ) and to tell you the truth ... I really do not miss the weight and bulk. I did opt for the 2 GB, but I also have an external hardrive on my Christmas List. I too use mine for pics, movies and such ...but this time I will not use my Mac to house it all. | |
