| I just had bronchitis and this is what I did -- I got a personal vaporizer w/vicks vapor pads that go in it and used it 2-3 times a day. I'm on Advair and Singular all the time anyhow so that helped me breathe. I would continue to do your breathing treatments and use your albuterol to keep those airways as open as possible. I don't know much about the fever situation but if it really does get that bad please go to the Emergency Room! Last edited by yorkiegirl83; 11-29-2007 at 06:33 PM. |

| Great advice here...Tylenol/Motrin for the fever will make you feel better while you're healing. Nyquil will put me to sleep...much needed sleep. FLUIDS is a must, little sips frequently to stay hydrated. Eat lightly...chicken soup is always good. Wish you well real soon.

| Just make sure you are being followed closely by a doctor. With fevers that high it could indicate worsening of infection. You just dont want to become septic. You may need iv antibiotics in a hospital setting. You have to take care of your self while you can |

| Anytime I'm sick with a fever, sore throat, head cold, chest cold, whatever I live on NyQuil....and it has to be the gross tasting liquid NyQuil because it seems to work better for me than the pills. If I have a bad chest cold and I'm congested I use over-the-counter Mucinex. A friend told me about that a couple of years ago and I love it. If you take Mucinex, You WILL cough....A LOT. It makes you hack all that crud up...Other than that I will break down and use nasal spray if I can't breathe. I hope you feel better soon. If you are running a consistently high fever for 3 or more days, I would definitely see a doctor.

| The one I got is really small, and you put your face into it and breathe in the steam and vapor for 5-15 mins. It really helped me a lot! |

| Donating YT 30K Club Member | I don't know of any other things to try but if you have asthma you need to be extra cautious. Maybe a couple of days in the hospital would be best. Hope you feel better soon.

| REST REST REST,,,Keep yourself hydrated, eat small frequent meals (6 a day,,,remember they're small) Avoid sugars,,,take your antibiotics as scheduled and at the same time everyday if possible....every two hours you need to do some deep breathing exercises....In your nose out your mouth,,,you want to see and feel your chest rise and yes this will make you cough....the old fashioned warm saltwater gargle will help your throat avoid commercial mouthwashes they contain alcohol and will irratate you more,,,use a cool mist humidifier,,,,tylenol/motrin and a warm tepid bath will aid in your fever....do not cover up with a ton of blankets you want the heat to leave your body not bake you in layers of blankets....oh it's ok to take naps..sorry third semester nursing student came out |

| All of these suggestions are very good, but I would add a Comedy DVD, or Comedy Central station. Nothing helps me forget how bad I feel like a good laugh... Hope you feel better soon. |

| Oh my gosh That Mucinex stuff is good, it does help get rid of the phlegm, and if it's just the regular one, it shouldn't interfere with your RX's, though asking the pharmacist would be wise ![]() Feel better soon!!!!!!!!

| That's nothing to play around with. I think you should go to the hospital if it doesn't get better, or you'll be sick for months like I was.

| Someone mentioned a nasal spray...that definitely helps me! But it is only for short-term use because your body gets kind of used to it. Three days is usually the max, but it was SO worth it to me to be able to breathe!
