Great. DH just called and he was scheduled to work Saturday and Sunday. Well now he isn't. They are shutting the plant down and doing something to the machines. So now the paycheck he is getting on the 29th is going to be 24 hours short. (he works 12 hour days).

So it has just gone from bad worse.

I am so sorry to hear that money is so tight!!!
Do you happen to have a credit card you can use just until January to get you through Christmas? That would give you an extra 30 days. Not that I am encouraging you to charge things but you could pay it off in January. I think your best bet is Ebay. Then you can buy your kids Christmas on Ebay too and not pay full retail!!!
Money problems can be so stressful....I am saying a little prayer for you!!!!

No. No credit cards. They were the first things to go when we started our budget.

Please please please pray. There is a chance Mike can work with a friend of his on his days off. If he can work with him just three days between now and the 29th, that will make up for the money we will lose this weekend, plus a little extra.

I know how powerful YT prayers are and this is one time I really need them.

Today is Thanksgiving so I am going to try not to stress about it too much today and just enjoy my family and give thanks to all kinds of wonderful people and furbutts.

I'm sorry you are going through all this, specially during the holidays. I'm sure your big kids will understand that sometimes there are more important things to be grateful for than to get christmas presents, but if you still want to get them something I suggest to sell something on ebay.

another idea if you bake then bake and sell your goodies!

We have people come by our office and sell cakes by the slice for 2.00 a slice.

Think how much you could make our "cake man" has about 4 choices for us to choose from. We love to see him come!

I hope your utility company will work with you - I've done the same thing before. Are you on budget billing with them? If not, that might help you to get on that, so you know exactly how much your bill will be each month.

Ebay or selling things here are terrific ideas if you can do that. How about brainstorming for things that you could make for your children. Or perhaps you could work with you children to come up with some great ideas for how to spend time as a family during Christmas that doesn't involve money.

Another idea to stretch your money is the dollar store -- it is really unbelievable the things you can uncover there. Just this last weekend, I saw ABC morning news do an entire thing about the bargins people are finding at places like Dollar Tree and Dollar General. They showed a guy making 6 figures shopping at the dollar store, and talked about how people who shop high-end stores are also shopping at the dollar store.

But most importantly you may have a great chance to put the focus on what Christmas really means; it's hard to understand how Christmas came to be about this huge mound of wrapped gifts, when really it's about accepting God's greatest gift to us.

I don't know that it could have been said any better!! I hope all goes well with your bills and like most already said most companies will work with you and give you some sort of billing plan! God Bless you and your family during the holiday season!!

Omgosh! Omgosh! I knew YT prayers were powerful!

I just got a phone call - completely out of the blue - from my ex (the one who never pays child support) and he just informed me that money is going to be taken out of his check every week and mailed directly to me!!!!

I am not sure when it is supposed to start. He called to double check and make sure he had the address correct.

I just can't believe, and I'm not sure I completely will until I actually get the first check.

I was just so shocked that he just called out of the blue and told me.

I hope and pray that it is true and that it will start some time in December because that would help out so much with bills and Christmas!

Wow..why is he in such a giving mood all of the sudden lol...my child support goes from my ex's check to the Family Responsibility Office and then into my bank account...when they get around to it...some months I dont get a check at all...ex's suck lol..hopefully you will get some money from him in December..

Well, I turned him in for failure to pay. I figured they called/contacted him and he got scared and figured he'd better step up and do something before he ended up in jail.

The story he told me is that he has a permanent job now and he went down to the office and asked them if there was any way to set it up so they take money out of his check and mail it directly to me. They told him yes they just needed to know how much and where to send it to.

Now, I'm pretty positive that isn't the entire truth.

BUT, it isn't like him to call me unless he IS planning on paying.

That's why I want to be really excited and believe I will get money every week, but I'm still worried.
