Sometimes i really hate people.... 3 Attachment(s) So today i go into work and we have a new transfer. She is a 11 month old Chihuahua mix (i think she's a Chi/Papillion mix) with a broken humerus bone. The owners call in the morning and the first thing they ask is "how much is this gonna cost?" Ok this is a reasonable question, but usually people will ask "how is my pet?" beforehand. Not these people. The surgeon gets on the phone and tries to go over everything with them. They interrupt him again with "how much"? So he tells them, and they say they don't have that. OK, so he goes over their options of care credit, possible amputation at their regular vet, another vet that might be able to do it for cheaper, yada yada yada. The people apply for care credit and get denied. So they call us back to tell us. The doctor asks them if they would like to pursue the other options and they say "No, put her to sleep" WTH? The doc got off the phone with them and told us techs and of course we threw million of questions at him and complaints. He said the owners just can't be bothered to pursue other options. So right off the bat we tell him we refuse to put this puppy to sleep. I went downstairs to other departments to tell the "suckers" :p of the hospital about her. The first two people i ran in to were just as upset as i was so we're trying to work something out. Hopefully that puppy is still there tomorrow when i go into work. I'm put up my proposal of getting him to do the surgery, for a much cheaper cost to me, hopefully, and then letting me foster her for a few weeks and then giving her to one of the other techs from a different dept to foster and or keep. Bottom line is, this little girl needs a new mommy and/or daddy Here she is |
I just don't get people sometimes. I can understand not having the money but maybe work out a payment plan or something. |

Ahhh she is a sweetie, poor babie, i cant believe her owners could be so mean, I hope and will pray something can be worked out to save this little girl, |
OMG, how can they say "just put her to sleep", like it's nothing???? What a little cutie! How did she break the humerus bone in the first place? I'm so glad you're able to help her! |

That is so sad. I hope your able to help this baby |
Aww..that's aweful:mad: That is one thing I'm going to hate to deal with as a vet...stupid owners and those that just don't care about their pet :thumbdown Even if they couldn't afford to fix it the right way, there are other options. I don't understand why these people even get dogs. Gosh..if something happened to Lacy, I'd do all I could to help her. And if I was the one that caused it, I'd try even harder! Some people :thumbdown |
I'm sorry but that just sounds really sketchy to me. Is the puppy skiddish or anything? She fell on her and now wants her put to sleep? Idiots, I swear. |

 Why would these people even have a dog? They could have found a vet that has a payment plan and just amputated it. |

She's a cutie! I'm sure you'll have no problem finding her a good home once she's all better! People do really suck. I cna't imagine not even trying to find the money to fix her leg. |

Also I wanted to add..and Im not trying to start anything..but what happens if someone cant afford even an amputation?? I had a good chunk of money saved away for emergencies but since I have been out of work I have used that money for food and bills and necessities..if something were to happen to one of my precious babies I dont know how I would pay for a surgery?? My family couldnt help me..and I dont have credit..so what would a vet do in that situation I wonder?? I would hope my vet would let me set up a payment plan but if he didnt just what would I do?? I dont even want to think about that but everyone falls on hard times and I guess it has to be asked.. Dawn |

It just depends on the vet. Some will work with you and some won't. I've heard of some vets doing charity cases sometimes, but it sometimes means surrendering the animal to them. A vet I talked to recently said she's done that a couple times. An animal came in whose family couldn't afford what it needed so they had the option of signing over the animal to them. Then the pet was treated an adopted out Just curious..what if a situation happens like that with humans? What if someone has no insurance and needs medical care? But they can't afford it? |

So they are not very nice people, and clumsy! |
Would a chi or pap rescue help?? There is an answer! She is lucky that she was where you were! GOOD FOR YOU! |
I am GLAD this is way too expensive for them - bc it gets her away from them, and into some loving arms. Bless you for taking up her cause, she is a darling! |
Aww. She is adorable! That is TERRIBLE of the owners to do that. I hope someone will take her in and give her a good home.. They out to take the owners and put them to sleep. i know i shouldn't say that but thats what they wanted to do to the dog. someone that cruel doesn't deserve.. ................. |
awww, poor baby! I hope you are able to find a good home for her. :( |
poor sweet baby ... this pup deserves better \'people\' .... I believe in karma, so someday this will return to hit them in the face ... |
