Wow only 4 minutes! I need some details,did they sedate you? Hook you up to iv's? What was it like?

No, just gave me a Xanex to take the edge off. It only takes minutes, they use drops so you don't feel anything.
My husband was allowed to watch when I had it done and was amazed at how quick the procedure was.

What keeps your eye from moving when they are doing it?

If you ever wore contacts, then this was not uncomfortable......I did not have any sedation......and it was fine.....they put tape over the other eye lid to keep it from opening...you just look at the red light....and he does it in about 2 minutes per eye....

I have always been near sighted.....but, just recently needing reading glasses....very slight. So I chose to correct the near sightedness rather than both. That way since I am just now needing reading glasses...not for computer though...I did not want to correct the reading part. But, if you are younger and do not need reading glasses yet....then no worry...

my brother did it-he was seriously sooooo blind!! it was crazy. Its like Night and Day for him now-a complete turn around.. he can actually see now!! poor thing..

and he is only 20. i actually am taking him down to LA on Saturday to have another check up, etc. (i think its been like 2 months or something?) BUT anyone who is thinking about it.. DO IT!! my mom and dad also had this done.. but when it first came out- like 10 years ago or somethin like that-but they ALSO could not imagine not having it done.

so glad it worked out great for you too!!

yeah.. they gave my brother a dvd of his procedure-its really amazing how they do it-but its kinda creepy to watch..gives you the chills..haha.

oh and they definately gave him some pain meds and stuff before...just so he was relaxed and stuff too. it was funny though-he was all out of it..haha.

i had it done two years ago and it was the best thing i ever did for myself. I was so blind. I had been wearing glasses since i was 5 or 6 so my vision was pretty crappy by the time i had it done at 23. Since my eyes were so bad it took a little longer, maybe 7 minutes each eye. Plus they gave me valium about an hour before hand. I was also sent home with valium and heavy duty tylenol. After the surgery i was suppose to keep my eyes closed for 6 hours so i just took the valium and tylenol and went to sleep with my protective bug shields on LOL woke up with 20/20 vision. it was amazing. I can now get up and go to sleep at night without having to deal with contacts or glasses. staying away from home is so much easier too now. If anyone is seriously thinking about getting this done i highly recommend going for a consult. Most are free.

I got new glasses and still can't see but Lasix is so expensive.
