I did report somethinga couple of days ago and admin acted on it promptly. I just would like to post and have some nice discussions and all that. Afterall, we are here because of our four legged babies first and foremost.

personal infor as in how old are you, who are you, where do you live, what is your name, are you man or woman bla bla bla. That is MY business and I reserve the right to silence ...if people get mad because I choose to not answer their questions then so be it. I dont want to know anybody's name, locatin or age, male or female it is not my concern nor do I have interest in others, if someone voluntarily shares this well I will listen and that is all. Most of you have not felt it because you have not been badgered.

As I said, I like this site very much and would like to feel at home here.

Another thing are the hurtful remarks that some make pointing me out as a liar and that I really dont have dogs, all this is a way for me to start to blurt out the info they want. Frankly speaking I wont, so they can call me all the liar they want. I know what I have, and who I am and that is all needs to be said. And I love my babies

I know I posted in one of your threads and said I HOPED you were lying. I wasn't calling YOU a liar though, I apologized and you and I worked it out.

I haven't noticed anyone being nice only to people who share personal information though. I HAVE noticed that people are a little nicer to those who have been here longer/posted more, but I think its just because they've all had a chance to get to know each other a little better.

I DO share personal information but have never felt pressured to do so. I do it because that's just who I am. I'm a pretty open person about most things and don't have a problem sharing.

I think its just that there have been so many "trolls" and other people taking advantage of YT members, that we've become a little wary and less trusting.

Ive never felt like someone was prying me to get personal info about me. I know on certain topics it does happen but I dont think it makes you more popular or less popular if you do or dont share

I understand what you mean...I realize that is your personal info and you don't HAVE to let everyone know that. That type of primary info is no big deal to me, but that is my personal choice to share it. You just have to understand that us regular members have been here for years, do share more info with each other, and do feel like we 'know' each other. Some of us have met, talked on the phone, etc. It's not wrong of you not to share, just makes you a minority and a newcomer here...nothing wrong with that. You just have to keep in mind if you feel 'left out' of the topics being discussed.
That being said, if you don't want to divulge that stuff, don't and if someone is harassing you about it, report them. As far as being called a liar, there have been many trouble makers and scammers who have popped in here before and burned some of the good YT members. They were very 'secretive' as well...maybe that is why you are/were doubted.

I didn't realize your post was about very general information like age range or sex. You certainly do not have to post that information and shouldn't be badgered to do so but that type of very general and non-identifying information is what makes many of us feel like online friends. You feel like you sort of know each other and that makes you like the person more. When someone acts like what continent they are on is too private to share it sends up red flags that the person might be a troll. Basic information like I'm a woman and live in the US does not identify you in the least and no one could ever find out anything else about you from that information but it helps people fell like they know you a little. I am not accusing you of being a troll at all, I promise. I'm just trying to help you understand how some members feel about things.

I agree this is the internet and one has to be so careful not to post too much personal info out there. And don't be sad if you don't get a lot of posts to your thread...we all have had that happen. YT is a huge site with tons of posts and I for one can't keep up with all of them and I do try to post on topics that interest me or post on those that I can provide help or info to fellow YTers. I think the longer you are on YT the more people get to "know" you and then start to look for your threads to answer on. Hope this makes you feel a little better.

Simple solution: if you don't want to post certain information then don't. No one has put any pressure on anyone here about that, not that I've noticed anyway. But if you post a question or need advice, sometimes people need more information to give you propoer advice. We have had people that have asked a question and want an answer without providing all the information and yes, they did turn out to be scammers and liars (not saying you are). Now if you don't want to divulge anymore info, that's a personal preference. OBVIOUSLY people will post to the threads of people they have befriended and known for a while. That is only natural.

I haven't noticed this happening. YT is a big family made up of over 25,000 members. Some people are more chattie than others. It is easier to to be included when people feel like they "know you". Either you share or you don't, it is entirely up to you.

Growing up I was very shy and didn't talk to many people, therefore I didn't have many friends to talk to.

I agree. It has happened to me, too. But, I noticed that the time of day that you post makes a big difference. It's easy for a thread to get pushed along before anyone has much of a chance to read it. I have a tendance to just glance at the first page, so I miss alot of posts that go to the second page. I don't have alot of time, so I check in spurts and in a hurry. But, I, too, just say "oh, well" and go on.

and...we tend to want to "chat" or "talk" to people we feel like we can get to know as well. when it comes to the small talk on YT...it is easier to do when you feel like you are talking to a person...not a machine. someone who cares to get to know you...stuff like that. when it comes to talking about the doggies and offering advice...that is a little different. all in all, we just like to feel like we are getting to know the people we spend so much of our time with online. this is why people ask questions. but i don't see how anyone could be rude if you do not feel like giving them personal info.

i do know that you do not want anyone knowing where you are from...only that you are outside the US. when you first became a member here, you had some very mean things to say about your yorkie, and a lot of your posts have been very negative. and in the midst of all of that, when someone asked where you were from becuase you were saying you couldn't get your yorkie neutered before 12 months because of law, you refused that info. at that point, i started feeling a little "leery". it's like i said in my earlier post...it is hard to know if people are scamming or lying to us on here...and quite honestly, your first several threads left some people wondering if you were "legit". so asking you info is probably the only way for those who are wondering to find out if you are just trying to "pull the wool" or something.

i don't mean to offend you, that is not what i am trying to do. i'm just offering a reason as to why you might feel the way you do. and these are just my opinions...doesn't make them right or wrong. just opinions.

Well I for one am the number one thread killer. That being said I still have put on some personal information 'cause I have needed prayers and I KNOW that YT prayers work. Also I have made some very, very good friends on here. I am so sorry that you feel this way and I know it would hurt my feeling too. I think there are lots of people who feel the same way you do about sharing info on the internet. Please just stick with us 'cause there are more of us that are kind that those that are not did I say that right?
