Christmas Fare?...

What do you guys serve for lunch/dinner on Christmas Day?

We are not going away for the holidays this year ( have an old cat that I want to be near if anything happens) so we are having family and friends to lunch on Christmas day. We normally have a pretty traditional meal here in S.A, but I thought it would be interesting to see what you have.

Also, can someone give me a good recipe for eggnog! Please

we are Italian so on Christmas day we have home-made ravioli and porketta. usually we have green beans in pasta sauce, meatballs, home made sausage...

Hi....also part Italian and part Polish..what a combo!! So we have some meals from both cultures......we do Christmas Eve which is a Polish tradition in our family and serve pierogi, kielbasi, homemade Polish Mushroom soup (all homemade and ingredients we get from local market and churches); then for the Italian side of things we have the lasagna, salad, fruit along with rolls, desserts (cheescake, nut/poppyseed rolls and tons of homemade cookies), etc. We start at 6pm on Christmas Eve and we open some presents.

Christmas morning is our traditional breakfast - baked eggnog French Toast, opening up rest of gifts and then relaxing for rest of day and visiting friends to deliver presents and guess what??? Eat more food..hahaha!

We always serve Turkey or Ham. This year we decided we are going to serve crab legs and cheese fondue. My mom said that is what they always did on Christmas Eve and it sounded like a good idea to me!

We usually have Prime Rib and Yorkshire pudding (my Mom was from England) but since she passed away in March this will be our first Holiday season without her. So we decided to just have appetizers, some Ham and rolls.

We have the usual turkey, ham, green beans, potatoes, corn, all sourts of stuff.

I alway's go to both sides of the family house for the holiday's. Christmas Eve we have Rigatoni at my mom's , it's a tradition that we have been doing since I was little no Italian in us we just likr the food

Christmas morning I make my 4 boy's French toast or bread pudding. Lunch is at my inlaw's and they have ham, sweet potatoes, corn. green beans, apple pie. For diner we go to my parents and we have a "ethnic" diner my mom tries to switch it up each year we have had a few French dishes, English, German, Spanish, Greek, the list goes on she keeps with traditional dishes of the Countries and they have all been great to try. I think she was going to come up with this years menu after thanksgiving. My mother cooks great food so I can't wait to see what this year will be!! My sister brings desert and I bring he wine!

Last year I served Lobster Stuffed Tenderloin! It was great!!

Lobster stuffed Beef Tenderloin
 3 whole lobster tails
 4 pounds beef tenderloin filet
 1 cup butter
 2 teaspoons lemon juice
 1 teaspoon garlic powder
 3 cups white wine
 1/4 cup olive oil
 1 teaspoon garlic salt

DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
2. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add lobster tails, and cook for 5 to 6 minutes. Remove from water, rinse and remove shells. Cut tail meat in half lengthwise. Cut tenderloin lengthwise, to within 3/4 inch of the bottom. Fill center of meat with lobster tails.
3. In a saucepan, melt butter with lemon juice, garlic powder and 1 cup of the wine. Drizzle about 1/4 of the butter mixture over the lobster. Tie the tenderloin with kitchen string. Rub tenderloin with olive oil and place in a roasting pan. Pour remaining wine in bottom of pan.
4. Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Stir garlic salt into remaining butter mixture, and serve with slices of roast

On christmas eve we have the family over and have-
Ham
Turkey
dressing
gravy
Potatoes of some sort
lima beans
mac and cheese
biscuits
pecan pie
(maybe a few other things i'm forgettng)

Since its just mom and me now, we go to huddle house chrstmas day. Christmas night we eat leftovers from christmas eve.

When we have it here I make Turkey, Ham, cherry sauce for the ham, dressing, mashed potatoes & gravy, sweet potatoes, corn on the cob, ambrosia salad, hot rolls, home made egg-nog, cranberry sauce, home made zucchini & banana nut bread, home made pumpkin and apple pies, and lots of different beverages.

I always try to make Christmas as easy as possible. I usually order a Honey Ham and sometimes even the sides. I have 2 awesome breakfast recipes that can be put together the night before and then pop in the oven while we are opening presents....easy fixin's, easy clean up, and everybody likes it.

We have Turkey, stuffing, chicken, pork, mac n cheese, potato salad, salad, etc. And sweet stuff for deserts

On Christmas eve we have tamales - we order them freshly made and they are so delicious. We make Mexican rice with chips and dip to go along.

On Christmas day we have turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes, homemade macaroni and cheese, corn, cranberry salad, apple salad, pumpkin, pecan and mincemeat pies.

I think that about sums it up!
