| ![]() One point of research I have not yet been involved with is a good reputable vet in Queens... I do not have my Yorkie yet but I love hearing some of your feedback on local vets... I live near Maspeth but have no issues in driving to a vet in Queens.... Also, are there any emergency facilities nearby? |

| ![]() Well, first of all, they didn't have a file for Archie...they had his info on index cards. And every time we went, there was a different vet, and one even lost his info and was about to give him his shots again. I don't even think that some of the "vets" were actually vets. I also found it really messy and the people at the front desk didn't even pay attention to the fact that there were people there. It was kids at this front desk! And finally, I didn't like the fact that there was a client there who hit her dog everytime the dog looked in the direction of my dog. The exam room was messy and the whole place looked very shady. I talked to the guy who owned it and he said to me that he did have a deal with the pet stores to be their vet. When I asked him about food, he told me to feed Archie "whatever." When I tried to look up the vet's qualifications, I could hardly find anything online. I take Archie to Bellerose Animal Hospital. Archie has one vet there, and the vets there are very qualified. I had taken my cat there. It's very clean, they're really attentive and answer all your questions. They encourage you to call them for anything, and when I got Archie neutered, they even let me go in the back and they showed me the whole procedure, and where he would be staying, etc. Also, one very important thing for me was that when he did stay overnight after his neutering, they had a nurse on duty through the night. It feels more like a pediatrician's office than a vet's office! I talked to the vet about Archie's food, and she really answered my questions and even asked me questions about what he's eating, how his eating habits are, etc. I hear that North Shore in Bayside is very good, as well. |

| ![]() For those of you who did business with S&V, what are your opinions? What is the place like? Are they high pressure? Do they have puppies out to pick up and play with? |

| ![]() I went to QUality CAnines (S&V) because I purchased a dog from them b4...I was not pressured AT ALL...I thought Ivan (the gentleman that helped me) was very very helpful...When I went there were about 7 yorkies...ranging in prices from 600-2000...When I chose Sammi, he explained to me she had an iniguial hernia and an underbite, it wasnt hidden info... When I got Sammi home, I researched her breeder (on my own) and got very very good feedback on them...I also called them directly to find out about Sammi's parents etc...They were very nice to speak with ![]() If you have any questions please feel free to email/PM me ![]() Fran

| ![]() WOW! Quality Canines seems to be a pretty popular place. We got Mojito there as well!!! I thought they were pretty helpful but I knew what I was looking for and (I hope) the right questions to ask. It was very clean and the pups all seemed happy and pretty socialized. I'd definitely recommend them for folks that are looking for a family pup!! |

| ![]() Hi. I'm new to Yorkie Talk and I don't have one yet. But, that's why I'm here! I am looking for a reputable breeder in the NY (Brooklyn) area. It seems that a lot of people on here have gotten their babies from Quality Canines and seems that everyone has had a good experience. I'm leery of buying a puppy through a middle man, instead of straight from the breeder. Does anyone know if QC is licensed/registered with AKC, ACA, etc.? Any other suggestions on where/who to go to? Also, for those of you who have contacted the breeders, have they seemed reputable, as well? I just don't want to support a bad breeder, you know?! THANKS! | ![]() jmtui- You should definitely be wary of where you purchase your dog. If you've never owned a Yorkie before and would feel more comfortable dealing directly with a breeder, I'd suggest going to the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America. They have a list of "approved" breeders that you can contact and speak with about available puppies, upcoming litters, etc. Most are very friendly and helpful and you certainly won't go wrong making some calls and speaking to folks! One thing I can say about Quality Canines, they do give you info on the breeders and you can contact them if you'd like to... Best of luck! Mojito & Irmi |
