| Petco classes!!!!!!! There's a six-week obedience course at Petco. The next ones start Tuesday, November 8 at 92nd & Broadway or Wednesday, November 9 at 86th & Lexington The cost is $120 for the 6 weeks. We will cover all basic commands, like sit, stay, down, come, heel, drop and polite walking on the leash. We will also have a problem solving orientation where we'll talk about housebreaking and other issues. For the barking, I'd suggest doing a private lesson first so you can get a little more control of the barking before you put the dog in a group class. Although we will cover barking briefly in the orientation, I find that owners with barky dogs usually end up getting frustrated during class because their dog is the "problem-child". If you're able to work on the barking first, it makes class 100% easier when you get your dog there for the first time. I do private sessions for a reduced rate of $60/hour for students who will be taking my class (for Manhattan). Usually it will take 2 sessions to get you on the right track to a quieter dog so you two can enjoy your class experience together. My specialty is barking - I personally have a dog who used to bark a lot, and I've worked with a lot of yorkies who have barking issues in their apartments. They're smart little buggers, so it's just a matter of learning to communicate better with them and teaching them that quiet is a great thing. Let me know if you want any more information.
