Eddie goes to swim therapy (video)

Thanks for all the kind words. Glad I'm not the only one who got choked up. You just hate putting them through any surgery, and rehab is long and difficult. It's so nice to see him enjoying the use of his legs again.

And, yes, this place is phenomenal. I knew it was a nice facility, but I had no idea how much the owners know about dogs. They were very gentle with Eddie -- to the point where I was wondering if they were overdoing it!

I cut out a lot of video, but she spent a good 20 minutes with him just splashing in the water. Then she gently picked him up, walked a few feet out and returned him. She did that about three times, each time walking a little farther out. When she finally let him go, her hand was on or near the life jacket the whole time.

No wonder I've had such a hard time getting dogs to like the water! I'm inclined to just drop them in and let them go for it. I'm so glad these people know what they're doing. Eddie was real excited afterward. He enjoyed himself.

Draco broke his paw, and has had his cast off for a bit but will also be doing swim therapy, this makes me really excited!

Ha ha! Me too! And misery loves company! I bought that song off iTunes a couple years ago in hopes of using it in a video someday. Finally found an opportunity!

same for me, I loved watching Eddie get more confident as the video progressed, what a nice way they have with the pups, you are lucky to have a place like that in your town, I doubt there are that many around. This will surely help Eddie with the use of all his legs

And Mary, funny you bring up bath time. Mine hate it! It's only been recently that Eddie would even take treats during a bath -- something he did the whole time swimming.

While I'm anxious to see how Jillie does swimming -- she's generally fearless -- she does hate baths even more than Eddie. Can't wait to give it a try. I'm hoping she likes it and eggs Eddie on to go out by himself.

I am not sure if swimming helps with bath time. I can not keep Lola out of the lake or pool, she loves to swim and drops her toy in just so she can jump in to retrieve it, BUT is terrified of baths, makes no sense to me but she trembles each time she knows it's bath time. LOL I am starting to think I should bathe her in the lake this summer
