| My sweet adopted Boo Update: So when I adopted Boo in November (his age is almost 1 1/2 years old), he was ferrel. We had some work to do and we did it. He was gaining a lot of confidence and learning to navigate his way in a world out of a crate, where he'd mostly been raised from a pup. He has a full world around him and has many things to do throughout the day...sometimes he has nothing to do because his mommy is ill with a cold or flu...and he has to learn to thrive in "down time" too. He had a major set back this past winter whereupon he peed on my bed and in his crate on 3 occasions. I was SHOCKED at that turn of events as he'd been pottied only an hour prior. So I took him to the vet thinking he had a bladder infection of sorts...NOPE, he just is a boy with tremendously bad manners! I was now aware (and worried all the while...) that I could not train him to start behaving "clean" in the house. I was told that he may be regressing and that he needs to be recrate trained and as if he were a little baby pup. That is what I did and we've been doing this for a while. He has had no more accidents in the house, however he isn't trusted at all yet. This boy goes out to potty after every single activity. He probably goes out at least every 2 hours... Has anyone here had a yorkie that has begun peeing in the house (even in his own crate..). He'll hold his #2 but not his #1. Anyone? Thanks...need all the help I can get, Love, Boo's mom Last edited by gontygirl; 05-05-2013 at 05:49 AM. |

| I think many Yorkies like to or need to pee whenever they get excited -- during or after playtime, meal time, when the doorbell rings, when they wake up. My adult Yorkie boys are pad trained and one of them likes to go often. He is fine if we are somewhere without access to his pad or outdoors (like a friend's house), but he likes to pee often at home. It might be that Boo needs lots of potty breaks often.

| I didnt see where you say if he is neutered or not.....if he is intact, he is marking his territory.....I have never tried to potty train an intact male....I just use belly bands on my intact males, to keep them from marking inside the house. There are many people that have successfully stopped this marking behavior in intact males so I wish you luck with that.....if he is intact?! |
