| My yorkies did not hit it off with my brother's boxers... My yorksters get along with little dogs, but get spooed by the big dogs. At my brother's place for Thanksgiving, Chloe the big boxer is the pack leader, and she tried to assert herself over her little cousins. Of course, they would not stand for that! This video does not show that dynamic, as I was too busy holding the Yorkies to try and capture how they interact. But anytime the boxers got within a few feet of Gatsby or his sister, Mr Gatsby would turn very violent and snap. When they were out in the backyard, I could finally put the Yorkies down, and we tried to play fetch. But this shows what happened when I threw the rope too close to the scary Ceramic Boxer. |

| How funny... My two don't like anything shaped like animals. I once took Couver to a Cabelas and they had a huge mountain with taxidermy animals and he freaked out... He would not stop growling and barking at them

| Thanks for the replies! What I find so interesting about this behavior is that we are generally told that dogs depend on scent & sound for recognition, but this just shows that under certain circumstances they depend on their vision to assess the situation regardless of any particular scent or sound. Of course in this case the whole house probably smelled of enemy dog to them . But I do belive that at times my yorkies will watch TV and react to visual clues, like a nature show about wolves or dogs in high def... But that is a rare behavior, and they soon seem to figure out that its not really another animal. |
