| Vicious Beast!!! OK, I decided to take the advice of several YT'ers and get a marrow bone. The results are frightening. If monster movies keep you awake at night, I suggest that you not watch this. |

You should all know that Edie does not bite me, even when I stick my hand in between her and the bone. She is all growl--no bite.

| We know Eddie loves her balls but this is down right scary and all I can say is "What were you thinking putting your hand near that vicious girl's mouth?" "Are you crazy?" What a hoot and that is the slowest I have ever seen your little girl...she loves her bones. I know growing up my mom always bought those for our labs and they would disappear for hours..they loved them. You do know that now you have to go and buy one for Breezy? She can't be left out.

| That is so cute, I buy my little ones marrow bones or beef femur bones. I ask the butcher to slice them for me and they slice them into 2 inch bones for me. I buy a whole package and freeze them, and take out as many as needed. The rest stay frozen until needed. Then I take them and boil them for a few minutes, then remove excess fat from them before giving them to my babies. That way they don't get all gross (the bones and the babies). The quick boiling won't cause splintering, but does remove some bacteria that might be on them. If your babies aren't used to eating beef, then I would suggest starting them out slowly with the bones, let them have it for 30 minutes the first time. I then place it in plastic bags and refrigerate until the next day. It keeps their teeth sparkly. www.doggygoneit.com |

THanks for those tips, I will try them. I confiscated the bone, but I have 2 more in the freezer. I did give Edie a bath afterwards, as it was a little greasy. But she stayed cleaner than I thought she would.

| I am glad to help. Boiling a little keeps down the greasy stickiness and the bone doesn't get so gross, because when it's raw everything sticks to it (even the baby, LOL). I have three dogs, and Keno is the Yorkie and the boss. The other two are medium size (boys) and older than her, but she has to boss the boys around. I have the bones cut smaller for her, but she seems to always take one away from them and ends up with a bigger one. Keeping them a little smaller also keeps down the mess on her. It also keeps down the dental cleaning bills. Karen doggygoneit.com |
