This is what an all natural bone looks like 3 Attachment(s) For those of you who wanted to know what is safe for your babies to chew on this is it. It's an all natural beef bone purchased in my pet store. No more nylabones, rawhide etc for Buddy. He has been chewing on these for about two years and they provide all the chewing necessary for him and it's 100% safe with nothing to ingest. Between these bones, petzlife and brushing daily his teeth are tartar free. |
Did he take to them right away? I bought a couple for Hoku and Kalani quite some time ago and they wouldn't have anything to do with them:( |
After taking everthing else away he had nothing else to chew and he was an aggressive chewer so he had no choice. Once he started there was no stopping him. He chews so hard there are actuall notches in them. |
What are they called? |
Yes, what is it called? Quote:

I don't think there is a specific name for them, just a natural bone. They can be purchased at PetCo or PetSmart or any other pet store. They are in bins where the rawhides are, just loose. The important thing is to get one that is not too big around so your pet can chew on it. Most are quite large so when I see the smaller ones I buy one. Nothing to worry about and nothing to ingest. I have also seen them with cheese or somekind of stuffing in them but those are wrapped. I believe they are beef bones that have been cleaned. |
thanks for the info...i will go look for them afterwork...hehe |
these are the "sterilized" bones?? so no stinky stuff? and no chipping or splintering?? thanks! |

Exactally, which is why I buy these only. |
2 Attachment(s) Archie - I believe the bones I have pictured below are shorter versions of your "Natural Bone" I have been feeding "shank bones" for as long as I have had Yorkies. I have my butcher but a shank about 1/2" to 3/4" thick and make a pot of good ole beef stew for the human dinner, clean the bone and it goes tot he dogs. Here are a couple of pics of some of the ones laying around the house. When they get too nasty and slimy looking, I wash them off and give them back. Some of these bones are over 4 years old. I finally had to toss one of the them 'cause the Boxer had made a "dent" in one and I didn't trust it any more. |

Thank you for showing those pictures. I will also keep that in mind. Buddy would love those I'm sure also. Yes, he has ridges around all of his, however nothing can splinter. It's always good to find different things to keep them occupied. I will check with my local butcher. |

Add your own filling too. Peanut butter, cheese, chicken etc. I smear the peanut butter around on the inside and Buddy licks for 20mins. Don't pack it in that would be too much just smear it around inside. I also stuff with a piece of 2% cheese on Fri nights when I eat Pizza.:p |
