Show me those coats! Hi Everyone, I was just wondering if I could see pics of your silky and cottony coated babies! I was curious to see if there was a noticeable difference. Is one coat easier to care for and maintain than the other? Do they have different growth rates? Do you prefer one coat type over the other? Is there other type of yorkie coats besides silky and cotton? Plus I just love so see pics of everyones babies!:D |
Here's Turbo... 3 Attachment(s) I am 99.9% sure that he is a silky. He has the softest coat that is soooo easy to take care of! Enjoy! |
2 Attachment(s) I'm 100% sure Chanel is cotton LOL and Cheri is silky - here they are side by side - and Silky is MUCH easier to take care of. It takes me 5 minutes to groom Cheri and about 1-1/2 hours to groom Chanel but lucky for me she really enjoys it They're needing baths and haircuts in these shots but you can see the hair difference |
The girl in the pink bow is silk. The boy in the olive bow is soft. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...DSCF0045-4.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...DSCF0007-9.jpg |
Is one coat easier to care for and maintain than the other? Silk is much easier to care for, soft matts much easier. Do they have different growth rates? They say soft coats grow faster but I have not seen alot of difference in growth rates with my 2. Do you prefer one coat type over the other? Yes, because silk is much easier but a soft coated puppy is sure cute:D . Is there other type of yorkie coats besides silky and cotton? Yes there is, wirey or what some call red legs. I am sure there are others that can expand on these answers. I am just giving you my experiences with my 2. |
4 Attachment(s) Here is Stedman's :) |
4 Attachment(s) And here is the little Tator Tot's :) P.S. - Excuse the first picture....her hair doesn't stay perfect long after her bath, LOL....she goes CRAZY  And the picture of me blow drying her in the bathroom isn't the best pic of her coat (it wasn't brushed yet...and she was still somewhat wet)...but, oh well LOL :p |
Crystal has a silk coat, I'm not sure if this pic is large enough to give you an idea. In looking for a pup with a silk coat always look for one with a very thin coat. http://s59.photobucket.com/albums/g3...t=000_0046.jpg sorry this pic is so big when i went to properties it said 120 x 160 |

Crystal looks so pretty in pink - that is def her color !!! I think for those with cotton coats - GOOD shampoos & Conditioners are the key to keeping them matt free |
???? 2 Attachment(s) I have no idea what mine are maybe someone can tell me??? I know ya cant tell with Diggy His pony is a fuzz ball....But Bella ...I seriously dont know her hair is weird.... |

Wow Stedman has a beautiful coat. And Diggy's is absolutely gorgeous too...he is definately a silky. I am hoping my girls have the silk coats.....Gabby originally had the thin hair and Tessa's was more fluffy. Now Tessa's has settled down and Gabby has hair everywhere. When do they lose their puppy coats? |
1 Attachment(s) Layla has a cotton coat. but we love the curls :) |
