My older Yorkie Toy has been at the "Dog Hotel" several times now and he always does well, and he always remembers us and is excited to see me when I pick him up. But I have a 12 week old new baby girl Yorkie now and we're also going on vacation next month. It was supposed to be a week long one, but I was so reluctant to leave her that I actually cut the vacation short to 4 days. I want to see first how she's handling it. I almost called off the whole thing, but even though I love, love, love my dogs, I have to think about my husband and son who, like myself, have earned that vacation and NEED a vacation :shade: . If she does do great, then we will probably go on several short trips instead of one long one, preferably to places where I can take them with us!!!!! What I hate the most though is, boarding facilities require all those shots and I oppose "over- vaccinating" my dogs, I have good evidence to the contrary of annual boosters and dogs over the age of 8 don't need them anymore at all, so it's hard to find a private person to agree to host them. I don't trust anybody, even to the point of paranoid! Have any of you tried another route, other than a boarding facility? I've heard of an agency that facilitates boarding services in an approved host's home. |
