Yes you can hold him and let him run around supervised;) . My firend that owns him built a huge pen that they keep him in and they let him run around the house alot too. I dont want to lose him in my house or let Penny get too close so I dont plan to let him run around my house. They brought me a big aquarium type thing to keep him in and a playpen(that metal thing that you see in the pic) so thats where he will stay. He is very low maintence. You feed and give him water and an occasional bath and keep thier nails trimmed. However she wanted me to clip his nails becasue she is too afraid too and I said "Yeah right" lol. So we are going to have to take him to the vet to get his nails clipped. I wonder if a local groomer could do it. They would probobly think I am crazy, he he:D :D |

They said they got it at walmart for $8. Its like a little pen for small animals like hampsters, guinea pigs, etc.... |

My friend got her hedgehog on a trip to Nebraska. I know there are breeders for hedgehogs on the internet and they cost about $100 but you can sometimes find them locally for less. |
Your pics are cute and the quotes are even cuter.[/COLOR] |

No he doesnt smell but they are covered in spikes so Im not sure I would get one for a kid, lol. He hasnt bit me yet but herbie is really tame and used to being held. Because of his spikes (they dont hurt but they are exactly comfortable) I use gloves to pick him up and put him in his pen. Im to afraid that I may drop him otherwise. Im not really sure how they bathe him, it doesnt have to be done often so I dont have to do it this week thank goodness. For food he eats dry cat food. I thought that was really interesting. |
