Cool photoshop trick

This is a takeoff on Val's Yorkie cloning machine trick, but way easier. You paste a B&W picture over its identical color picture, then erase the parts you want in color. Eerie, but kinda cool.

That is really neat. I bet you can make some cool pics doing that. I love b&w pics.

You can also doing that by making two layers - one color and the b/w on top, and put a layer mask on the top bw layer and using the black paintbrush on the layer mask to set transparency to the color layer (that's the 'pro' way to do it, haha.) It's about the same, just more forgiving.

That makes my head spin, but I've been meaning to play around with masks. I'll give it a try. Thanks.

BTW, I've been catching up with your Sully pics. You have gotten so much better, it's not even funny. Your studio lighting shots are incredible. Makes me want to haul my boys into the studio at the paper. Hmmmm.

Oooh, you really should do it!!!! :)

And thanks for your kind compliments. I am having so much fun in my new career. Here's a bw pic I just did with the layer mask of Sully. - Keep in mind that you paint on black to see thru to the below layer, but if you mess up, paint on white to make it opaque again. :thumbup:

Corinne - Thanks and congrats on 15 years! We just celebrated our 2yr and man time flies! It's great, though!

Ha ha! Only Shana would look past the photo trick and inquire about the haircut! LOL.

Nah, his coat just hasn't fully come in since the leg surgery. It's not always noticeable because the hair on top hangs over it, sort of like a Yorkie combover.

Troubletb, it is photoshop, but you can do the same thing with cheaper software. I'm pretty sure that anything you can make an avatar with you can also do this with. If anyone's interested, simple stuff like this can be done in minutes and I'd be happy to work one up for you. Post a color picture here and tell me what you'd like color and what B&W.

Val, thanks for that last masking tip. It's beginning to sink in. I couldn't figure out why you'd go to the extra step of making a mask, but that explanation makes sense.

I changed the color to sepia , might have it a little too dark. but it is sepia colored anyway. I think this one did attach, hopefully.

just go to gray scale in psp, then go to add color and add color and saturation until it looks sepia. LOl simple

Sweet! Thanks. I've learned more about psp on yorkietalk than I have from working with graphic artists!

I make lots of stuff on psp, I do better creating my own stuff than learning from others. I do animations, I can take off a head and put it on another body and most of what I decide I want to do. I'm not much on telling others what to do as I dont keep up with the steps as i go. I can not make two tags exactly the same hardly as I never remember all the steps I did in the first one but i'm always glad to help if I can.
just play around in it and you'll learn a lot that way or I did. If I can, most anyone can.
