Ears Down My Yorkie, Gus' ears are down and he is adoreable. I don't think it matters whether they are up or down. Gus is also very spoilt and I love him to bits. Gus is a purebreed Yorkie but not a show dog. He is just my baby. :animal-pa:animal36:aimeeyork |
Our little Dudley that we will be getting in 2 or 3 wks. has one of his little ears that flops over. The breeder said it will stand when he is through teething. Kayla has long hair over her ears. I let it grow because I think they look so cute with the hair hanging over. If I knew how to post pictures I would show you how her ears were when we got her. She almost had to grow to hers. lol!!! |

some people look at our 9 week old and claim it's not a purebread because his ears don't perk up yet. They are floppy and cute! and we're ok with that. he's not a show dog, just my husband's and i's first born! we will love him no matter what~ |
Esther's Ears Thanks for the support for floppy ears. Esther is almost 8 months old and neither her or her sister's ears have stood up. I have taped Esther's 3 different times for 2-3 weeks each time. My husband and I have finally decided that she is ment to be this way. She is a cutie and we love her the way she is. |
mombos mom Hi i always keep the back of puppies ears shaved to make sure their ears stand up and trim the edges with scissors , i use my sons beard trimers it gets closer than my grooming shers , i have also been told to rub theirs ears while their standing up this helpes the cartiled from geting riggied and wont stand up . Its kind of like a horse trained to lift his feet up high wnen he walks they put weights just above their hoofs .hope this helps a little . Mombos mom .... Barbara: |
when i first got my yorkie, one of her ears was loop-sided. i would just massage her ears. it actually worked! and she loves it too :P |
Ears still down Thanks for the advice. I have kept her ears shaved, put tape on them, breathright strips as well. Still her ears only stand directly on end when she is excited or has her attention directed at a particular sound. I've been trying it rub them with little response. (Although she does like having her ears rubbed.) I'm thinking that she is who she is and that we'll love her because she is who she is. Hope to have pics up soon. |

Cute Baby! |
One ear up - One down Teppi is now 13 wks old. I got her when she was 8 wks old & both ears were down. By 10 weeks 1 was standing on it's own. I took her to be groomed for the first time last week & the groomer just took it on her own to shave her ears. It didn't matter to me because I'll love her no matter what her ears do. I guess it's just a persanal preference. But I NEVER thought of taping her ears. I feel like it would be very uncomfortable & really look funny. A couple of days after the groomer shaved Teppi's ears the other stood up on it's own. I was surprised to see how quick it happened. Someone told me that their ears would do all kinds of weird things while they're teething. I don't know. If your're not going to show her & just love her no matter what then what difference does it make. She'll love you no matter what your ears looke like. lol Maybe you need to try shaving all the extra hair off & see what happens or just wait it out.:heart to Pam & Teppi :yorkiej: |
We taped Tucker's ears for about a week, and they were trained. It really is a preference. If you don't care if they stand, then leave them be.. they will be what they'll be....If you do, the Tape method is very simple, and seems to be effective.. Good Luck |
When I got Lily at 3 months, one of her ears was down. I didn't mess w/ it because I didn't care. A few weeks after that, it came up all by itself. Now both are up all the time. |
Hi Remy's ears were floppy for awhile. When I went to the vet for shots and check ups he would shave her ears. I kept them short and now they are up... and so cute - she is a year old and the ears are always up -- and turning to catch every sound lol I have hear mixed review on taping, but never tried it. I think the best is keep the hair short.... good luck and your furbut will be beautiful |

There are various methods of doing it. I prefer, mole skin cut in the shape of the ear and adding a bit of surgical adhesive then pressing it to the inside of the ear. The mole skin is softer and flesh colored. You can also use Tear Mender and brush it on to the inside of the ear, but with this method you have to make sure you use your them to cover the ear canal opening to prevent any of the product dripping there. Then of course you have to keep the pup still until the product dries. |
