I have looked into pet insurance for the puppy. I can't sign it up until it is older though but have been looking at it. |
JadeD, I wish your daughter a glorious birthday and an amazing year. I, too, have two wonderful Yorkie mixes and adore them. Actually, my little girlie just went to her first Barn Hunt class last Tues and did nicely. Yes, I plan on getting my mix a title. :) I do have purebred dogs for working, etc, but I am also happily owned and manipulated by some rather interesting mixes - Shoot, I'm a mix breed myself. So, there. I do think insurance is an excellent idea, purebreed or mix. Congratulations and happy Birthday to your beautiful daughter again. |

Karan I think Jade will not say it but she wants this dog as much as her daughter so the pup will probably wind up with two mommies. |

It is so spoiled already! This will be the first dog that is hers, as usually we have family dogs and then they get attached to one person, usually me. I will try very hard to let it get more attached to my daughter, but it will love me. I am the pack leader around here though so not sure how that will play out in terms of it being her dog. As I sit here right now Teek is laying on the couch with me and my husband's dog is laying directly in front of me (on the floor). This is where they like to be because they are always with me. |
2 Attachment(s) We got to see the puppies! Raksha is beautiful! She has a great personality so far. She is wonderful and my daughter loves here. These pictures are of her at 1 month old! We can't wait until we can bring her home! Attachment 405171 Attachment 405172 |
Raksha is a darling! I love her coloring. I can't wait to see her as she gets older. I bet now that you and your daughter have seen Raksha that you are even more anxious to bring her home. How old is she going to be when you bring her home? How much longer do you have to wait? How did Teek get along with Raksha? Did they do well together? Please post more pictures when you get them. |
She's darling! I can't wait for y'all to get to bring her home, either. Thank you for sharing! |
3 Attachment(s) This is the puppy I like. I told my friend that if he is still without a forever home when I pick up Raksha I will take him home with me. I love him. I refuse to pick out a name for him until he is mine though because she still might have someone want him and I don't want to make the commitment only because I would have 4 dogs then! If I bring him home though it will be a commitment though. I think he is darling. As far as Teek, he was over whelmed. It was his first trip with me and he was anxious. My friend has a rottweiler mix and he was terrified of him even though he is a gentle giant. Her Yorkie (the daddy) was pestering him. He ended up staying in the play area of her house where her dogs are not allowed while we were there. I showed him a puppy and he ran and hid. I think he will be okay when it is at our house and he feels safer though. Here is the puppy that I really like. Attachment 405198 Attachment 405200 Attachment 405201 |
That puppy is beautiful too :) Yorkies and Chinese crested dogs make beautiful puppies. I can't wait to see if you will be a family of 4 dogs soon ;) |
My husband and I are picking out a name for our new puppy! LOL Yup, 4 dogs we will have soon. My daughter will be responsible for watching my puppy if we go away like for a weekend. Teek will go with me whenever I can take him or he will stay with her or at home with our big dog. The person that watches our big dog can watch Teek if we have to leave him, but he is rarely left. LOL It will all work out in the end I am sure. Now to think of a name. I like cool and fairly unique names so I will have to find something. Teek is a Star Wars name. So maybe from a book or movie. Maybe a Lord of the Rings name or something. I am so excited! |

I can't wait to hear what you will name him. You do have unique names for your dogs. |
So cool! Congratulations!! |
Those puppies are adorable. Soooo cute!!! |
It is official. We have my daughter's puppy Raksha coming to live with us in about another month. We also have her brother coming to live with us at the same time and his name will be: Rowan James Because a giant owl in my dream last night told me that was his name! LOL I don't know why James is his middle name, James was my father's name. He died 12 years ago. The puppies were born just 3 days before my dad's birthday would have been. It is not what I would have given him for a middle name, but when I heard it I liked the way it sounded and I tried other middle names and nothing else fit like that. So, James it is. |
I have 2 crates. The exercise pen is ordered and will be here in about a week. I have 2 food bowls and 1 water bowl. I have pee pads and a pee pad holder. I have blankets and dog beds for them. I have toys. I have harnesses. I have the tags ordered for one and they should be here any day and plan to order the tags for the other next week. I have the vet lined up, they told me to just call the week before and set up an appointment for them as I am not sure when they are arriving yet (end of May sometime). I will have food bought before we go pick them up. Am I missing anything? Raksha and Rowan will be so spoiled and loved! |
I also have nutri-cal. They will be making an 11 hour car trip home sometime next month. I thought I would take that with me and put a little on their food during the trip. I hope they travel well. I am taking one crate to bring them home in, but at home they will each have a crate. |
May I suggest that your friend send you home with an item(blanket, towel, stuffed animal) with their mother's scent? I did this for both my puppies and it made things go a bit smoother with bedtime and the drive home. |
Thanks. I will ask her about that. She can probably go pick up a cheap blanket and have it all ready to go by the time the puppies are ready. I get those $2.88 blankets at Wal-Mart for crazy stuff like that. If I had thought of it I would have left one when I was visiting her. It probably would be great for the ride home and also to help them settle in at night once they get here. |
It's a beautiful name and rolls off the tongue nicely. |

Raksha and Rowan. Otherwise already known as The Twins. I hope that does not become a bad thing! LOL |
2 Attachment(s) Raksha at 6 weeks old Attachment 405414 Rowan at 6 weeks old Attachment 405415 We can't wait to bring them home! We are getting their area ready for them! I have all the supplies except food which I will get in a few weeks for them. We are so excited. They are being held by children and at a funny close to the camera thing so they look a lot bigger than what they really are. |
Oh my goodness! They are so adorable and I love the names you have come up with for them :). So sweet! |

Do you have a date when yours is coming home? Mine are coming home on May 18th! We are counting down. I have everything bought except the food and I already know the brand they are on now, so I just need to pick up a bag which I will do in a couple weeks. I don't see the point of having the food just sitting around for a month not being used. We are so excited and so ready for them to be here. Just a little bit longer. |

What kind of pen do you have? It looks awesome and I would love to get one!!! Even though Cooper could probably jump it if he tried lol |

Cooper can already jump a regular baby gate so I had to get a super tall one that has a door on it!!! For being so little he can jump super high!!! |
I got a Pet Trex exercise pen from Amazon. Like this. It was not very expensive and I think it will work great! |
