Our New Morkie, Mr. Mac! Hi YorkieTalk! Mr. Mac and I are new and I wanted to introduce him. Mac is now 10 1/2 weeks old and has the biggest personality of any pooch I've owned. He is a Morkie, and he is growing and changing by the day it seems. Hope to post more pictures soon. They are attachments. Mac says "see you later!" |
Oops, pictures didn't work! 4 Attachment(s) Let's try this again... |
Welcome! He is Oh so cute! They go thru so many changes, you are going to have so much fun. |
He is adorable.....enjoy your little boy Im sure you will have lots of fun with him. |
Thank you both! The baseball picture is the most recent taken just a few days ago! His ears are getting perkier and perkier. Not sure what they are going to do next! I was also feeling like he was a little balled on top lol, but after careful inspection it appears it's turning silver at the roots slightly. We just love him! Our neighbors Yorkie is also very excited! |
dog The sweetest little face and I know he is so full of love! You are totally blessed with Mr. Mac. May his life be long and his health excellent! I love him! |
Congrats and welcome to YT. Mr. Mac is so precious & handsome! |

He is so adorable! |
What a cutie pie! It will be interesting to see the Maltese come through- he looks so Yorkie classic! What a doll... |
Welcome to YT... Mr. Mac is just adorable. |
Thanks everyone! Lilah, I've thought the EXACT same thing. Even though I haven't had the pleasure of being a yorkie owner, I really see almost no trace of his Maltese-ness (lol). He looks pretty much identical to the yorkie puppy pictures I've researched, other than his ears being dropped, but they appear to be raising more and more. I even had a former yorkie breeder comment on how she just couldn't believe he was a morkie. I have no problems with this at all! I had initially wanted a yorkie and couldn't be happier with my Morkie... in Yorkie clothing! :-) I had initially wanted a yorkie pup, but fell in love with him when I saw him at 2 weeks old. |

I was ALARMED AT FIRST! lol I was like maybe it's like babies who lose their hair and it grows back. I didn't expect him to start changing so quickly, but it's very neat. The hair is so dark, and changes so subtly right at the root. However, my fiance still isn't convinced that he sometimes looks slightly balled lol. |
Oh questions for you all. If this is okay to post here, but WHEN should he get his first grooming? I'm not wanting to do just for primping purposes, but just to get him use to it. Plus, his nails are like small knives right now lol. Also, I have got to believe there is some special shampoo for these little babies. My pretty basic stuff does nothing for his fur and he starts to look almost a little greasy sometimes? |
Mac is absolutely adorable, and I agree, he looks very "Yorkie". You should hold off getting him groomed until he has all his vaccinations; you don't want to expose him to anything. You should ask the vet to trim his nails when you have him in for vaccinations. Or you can learn to do it yourself with the help of someone to hold him. You can just cut the sharp little tips, or you might even be able to file them. |
Does anyone have any advice as far as a good shampoo. I don't know if he is just greasy, but or what. He looks nice when brushed, but his hair starts to separate so quickly! I swear I brush him and he looks and starts separating in 5 minutes. He stays inside so I know he isn't getting into anything! |
Congrats! I have a morkie too! He looks a lot like my Sammy did at that age. Sammy has Maltese ears. They are thinner than yorkie ears. Sammy is a year and his don't stand up. As for shampoo use whatever you use yourself. |
too cute |
Hi, do not take out to a groomer until he has had ALL his shots. Shampoo, go to PetCo, Pet Smart or Pet Supplies, you can get a good quality shampoo, read labels, or, google puppy shampoo for oily hair, DO NOT use people shampoo, the PH in human vs canine is different, human shampoo can cause skin irritation. Dog shampoo the pH is designed specifically for dog hair and dog skin. Nail trimming, as MauiGirl suggested, you can clip just the TIPS, or if there is a vet visit due soon, the vet can clip no cost. |
Thank you all for the help with my questions. It gave me some good insite. I had already *attempted* filing his nails, but that was a gigantic fail as he can hardly sit still... especially when forced! I'll see what I can find about shampoo! And figure out how to handle this stringy hair thing he's got going on! |
Mac is adorable. My daughter has a Morkie as well, and she looked just like Mac when little -- she doesn't look at all like a Yorkie now, however. Her hair color is totally different. My little Yorkie is 10 months old, Hermione. We welcome you. |

Lilah, Thanks for tip about conditioning! I had no idea! And also for those grooming resources. We have his next shots scheduled for tomorrow and already asked for a nail trim :-). I do plan on taking him to a groomer, but I have little knowledge about what I should be asking for as far as cut. His hair doesn't seem to grow too quickly, so there won't be much to work with at first, but I do want to take him early like you recommended. And I have to say, I had always been fascinated by those who dressed their small dogs in clothing. But after I went online looking for just a simple sweater for winter... I NOW TOTALLY UNDERSTAND! My search turned into a Hoodie, Corduroy Coat, boots, & christmas outfit. :-) Hopefully I can get some great pictures! |
