Gunner is 4.5 months old already. 1 Attachment(s) Where does the time go? Love this little guy. Never thought I could love a dog this much again. He is my best buddy already. Also, I have a DSLR, does anyone have any tips on how to take photos? I used my phone with this one, he is so darned fast, never holds still. I would love to get some good pics of him. |
He is awesome! It's difficult to get pics of Bella, too. |

What a cutie! I don't have any advice for you on the pictures... I still can't get my 5 year old to sit still long enough to get a good picture of him :p |
Super cute. |
Cook up some chicken breast and bribe him for the photo. That's what I do with Deuce. Although as he's gotten older he's much more tolerant of my camera. |
Gunner is such a handsome boy. It's so cool to see him grow up here. What was he, maybe 6 weeks when you posted the first photo from his breeder? I know what you mean about photographing them. Cookie is so fast and thus pretty hard to get a good pic of too. |

I also use treats, but he is so busy trying to get the treat that he won't sit still. And, I think he was 4 weeks in his first photo? |
He's such a gorgeous little guy!!!!! I would love to take pictures of him!!!! |
I have all cannon equipment and this forum is amazing http://photography-on-the.net/forum/index.php , my name on their is sunnydayz1 if you want to search and look at my photos. I have not posted there in a while, but it really helped me when I was getting started. I have the cannon 5 D mark I and the mark II, as well as the 7D, plus numerous different lens. I started as a hobbiest but it has grown :-) I found setting continuos shooting works well depending on your shutter speed, could be worth a try. Mine are more professional full frame cameras, except the 7d, so I'm more familiar with the settings on them, but there are many people on that forum that se the same type of camera you use :-) you should be able to find the info you are looking for there, due to the whole forum being dedicated to all types of canon users :-) |
This is one of my favorite photos I've taken, and has gotten high recognition due to its subject matter :-) this is more the type of photography I do :-) http://photography-on-the.net/forum/...dier+at+sunset |

Gunner needs a bath today, so I will make sure to get the camera out before I start. I also need practice at the low light shots, I don't care what I do they all turn out crappy. Could be my lens, or me? I'm not sure. Oh, I couldn't see your photo till I sign up for the sight, I will do that after his bath. |

Also if he is treat driven, treats are amazing to get good photos, because you can position your hand with a treat to direct them in the way you want them to look :-) if not a treat, even their favorite toy :-) |

Gunner is gorgeous! A DSLR is excellent to use because you can use a higher shutter speed to stop the action. For lower light, I'd suggest you buy a single focal length lens that has a lower f stop which allows more light to come in. I started with Canon many years ago, but for the past 25 years I have used Nikon. A 35mm prime lens would be a good lens to buy. For anyone interested in photography, a book I'd recommend to get a much better understanding about how aperture, shutter speed, and ISO work together is Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson. All of his books are excellent, but this one is great for people of all levels. There isn't a lot of reading, and the photos are so wonderful to illustrate what he is trying to explain. I have a few of his books, and this is the one I'd recommend to start with. I hear his online courses are also excellent. One day when I have more time, I'd like to take some. I use one of Katie's balls to get her attention sometimes in photos, but food or a squeaky toy work great, too. Just keep practicing, and give Gunner time to get used to the camera. Even though I use digital now, I still take photos like I did with film, although with a fast moving dog, it's wonderful to keep taking photos until you get the expression you want. I look forward to seeing more photos of your beautiful little boy. This looks like such a fun class: Pet Photography Online Photography and Photoshop Courses at The Perfect Picture School of Photography |
