Tilly the tri colour- or is she a cross? 3 Attachment(s) This is Tilly. she is 10 weeks old. Is she a cross or a tri colour? The breeder thought she had 1/4 cross of jack russell in her because of her colouring but when I took her to the vet the vet said she looked like a tri colour to her and did not add the cross.. I am loving the last picture. Just too cute. About the coloring. The breeder did not know who tied with her dam? |
yes I met the parents and the grand parents who all looked yorkie. I asked where the x was as they were listed as cross and she said "you tell me" but she was told the grandmother had a cross in her with a jrt. All the pups came out black and tan except this one and one other that sadly did not make it. This was an accidental litter and her last. Im just curious as the vet dropped the x off her folder and put her as a tri colour yorkie. Curious because I want to see how she grows up she is 2lb 8oz but though she looked identical to her litter mates she just differed in colour. |
looks like JRT in there for sure - one way or another super super super cute!!!!!! |
Either way im in love! But having googled the cross she does not much look like them either and much more closely resembles a tri colour. I am the most impatient person I know and eager to see what she turns into I guess! I didnt want a pup really but having our dane x and chickens there was no way we would of found an adult toy breed accustomed to large dogs, children and chickens so my first go at a puppy! Zach the big one was a rescue to which we have just been lucky with :) |
How can the breeder think she has 1/4 jack russel in her? (did I miss something?) Isnt that something a breeder should be able to confirm or deny with no ifs ands or buts? I just don´t understand how the person who bred her own dog could speculate on what mix is in her  Either way, I LOVE her colouring and she´s beautiful :D |
She got the grandmother as a cross however she turned out looking 100 percent yorkie. she has the grandmother and the daughter as well as the boys both grandfather to Tilly and her father. |
Tilly is absolutely adorable, no matter what she is. If you want to be sure, though, you can send out a dna sample. Dog DNA Test Doggie DNA Testing and Mixed Breed Canine DNA Testing For Dogs - Dog-DNA.com Another YT member had a dog that 100% of YT members that guessed said absolutely could not be a pure yorkie from the pics, and 100% of us were wrong. So, I will no longer try to guess, since appearances can be deceiving. :D I know the pureness of the lineage does not matter when it comes down to love for a pet, though, so I just put that out there about the test in case you just want to know for curiosities sake. ;) |
I like the idea of DNA. Do they do them in the UK though? Never worked shipping out |

She looks almost identical to my Holly ... and she's a Biewer Yorkie or as some call them a Biewer Terrier .... In my case I'm starting to think she may has some JRT in her as well .. I did not purchase Holly, she was given as a gift and from what I can tell the breeder was a "back yard or home" breeder .... I'm going to do a DNA test at some stage, but really at the end of the day it doesn't matter either way but always good to know :-) p.s. I'm sure there are DNA testing for dogs in the UK .. a google.uk search should provide so leads :-) |
I would say she's a mix, but you could do a dna test like others have said. She's adorable either way! |
They have Wisdom Panel DNA tests in the UK as well: UK Canine DNA Testing, Canine Ancestry Good luck, and let us know the results! |
