Katie's breeder sent me an 8 x 12 photo of Katie recently. She had Katie the first three years of her life, so she had already sent me some photos of her when she was younger. Katie is such a confident, happy, loving little girl, so I know the love and care she received before she came to me. Her breeder's Lola is top obedience champion Yorkie in Canada in 2011, and she had that title prior to then, as well. She works and trains with all of her Yorkies, and Katie is not an exception. She is so beautifully trained, but she has not lost her curiosity, spunk, courageous and feisty spirit, or huge, loving heart. The photo that her breeder sent didn't look like the Katie I know today, but then I saw her tongue, and I knew without a doubt, that was also the Katie I know.

The first few photos are of Katie when she was with her breeder, and the next ones are Katie as a spoiled and loved pet. She was used to a lot of love, trips to the park, playing fetch and other athletic activities with her breeder. I worried that Katie would miss her breeder and her other packmates, but I am confident now that Katie is a very happy little girl now, too.

Unmistakably Katie, indeed! I love her happy tongue and bright, smiling face.

The first picture in her show coat is gorgeous.

Thank you everyone for all of your sweet words. We were hoping for a healthy dog who had been socialized well when we brought another Yorkie into our lives. Gemy spent some time with Katie when Razzle and Katie were being shown, and she told me such wonderful things about Katie and her breeder. I sent photos to Katie's breeder a couple of days ago, and she was so happy to see and hear stories about our little girl. Her love of Katie is undeniable. It reminded me that I need to take photos of Katie often to share with her. I think Katie's disposition speaks volumes to the importance of supporting breeders who are breeding for all of the right reasons. Like all Yorkies, Katie loves life, to play endlessly, and to cuddle with people.

Aww, she's such a beautiful happy little girl!! :) So did you get her after she was retired from the show ring?

I got my Lexie at 5 after she was retired from showing and breeding. It was an ideal situation to have an adult, well socialized dog, since I wasn't looking for a puppy.

I've always adored Katie's look and that tongue..you know it's Katie when you see that tongue :) Gorgeous!

Thank you so much. Katie finished her championship very quickly at fifteen months. She had two litters and was placed with me in May. Katie will be four next month. We had only had young puppies (one was 6.5 months when we got her) in the past, so getting Katie at three was different for us. It was ideal, though, because she still had been raised in a loving home situation where she was used to being part of a family, traveling, training, and lots of playtime. She is so friendly and confident. Your Lexi is beautiful!

Oh, thank you too! :) So you got the best of all situations too with your Katie. Next yorkie, I'm going for the same thing for sure!

Katie has made our house a home again and I don't think we could be happier. We will always love her sisters at the Rainbow Bridge, but that does not for a second take away the love we pour into Katie each day. She is so lovable and a truly special little girl. She is so full of personality, is highly intelligent, and she has figured out very quickly how easygoing her mom is. Her dad would give her the world. Hopefully we won't spoil too much her perfect training that she came here with.

That's wonderful that she was part of the breeder's family and was able to live like a family member. I'll bet she loves her new life with you and John, though, even more! What dog doesn't love to be the apple of a couple's eye and get all of the adoration to herself. I'm so glad she has a home with you two.

It's difficult to get a photo of Katie without her tongue out. I always want to capture her fiery, exuberant personality and that sparkle in her eye, so I try to take photos of her when she is excited about playing. When I received that photo, I didn't initially see the tongue. When I saw it, I knew that it is was my Katie.

You always are so sweet and encouraging, and you always touch my heart with your kindness. Katie was used to sleeping in bed with her breeder and had lots of attention and love shown to her, but she seems to love her new home. We completely adore her. We hope someday to get her a sibling to play with, but I hope she will be happy once again sharing the attention and affection. We worried so much about her missing being part of a pack, but she adjusted so quickly and has John and I completely wrapped around her paws. There is nothing that we wouldn't do to keep her healthy and happy.

Awwww, Lisa always love seeing pictures of Katie...she is so beautiful and stunning to say the least! You can see the love she has with life and just a happy happy girl. I always enjoy your post and your pictures and your kind words it always makes me feel so good to know these special furbabies are so loved and cared for! Thanks for sharing..she had even melted my DH's heart and I always show him her pictures and he always comments how cute she is....Lexi is a daddy's girl and I know Katie has her mommy and daddy wrapped around her little paws too!

Thank you, Cheryl. I think you already know how much seeing your beautiful little girl makes me smile. Katie and I play together a lot, but when I am at work, she rarely leaves her dad's side. Seeing how much he loves his little girl and how protective he is of her reminds me every day why I love both of them so much.
