Ohhhh My Gosh I Love this story! She is just a Doll!!
I feed ACANA and Love it! Riley does Best on it. I have switched
brands but always end up going back to ACANA. He just finished a
bag of ACANA/Pacifica and last night I bought a bag of the Duck
and Bartlett Pear. Am excited to see how he does on that.

I do Nature's Variety raw organic chicken for breakfast and the
ACANA Kibble, for dindin. He has been doing Awesome on that
combo!! :thumbup: :D

We found little Fizz roaming the streets matted and ill too. We were not so lucky as you. Little Fizz was very ill and left us far too soon...but they get inside you...I believe Fizz came to show me what a yorkie is and how loving they are. I rescued two more. Max and Titus...not a day goes by that I don't think about Fizz and how he opened the door to these little loves.

My guys thrive on ACANA as well. :) They are currently on a combo of two different flavors (Wild Prairie and also the Lamb & Okanagan Apple). Another great kibble is Fromm (my guys love the Beef Frittata).

If I could give you and your hubby a ginormous hug right now, I would. This is one of the sweetest happy endings ever :love:. It brings tears to my eyes.

I hope you post lots about her as she turns into your spoiled little girl...I'd love to see all the heartwarming changes she goes through. Sounds like she has you both wrapped around her paw already.

Awww, Love that your DH picked her up, and I Love how she chose you and ultimatley caused dh to change his mind. And I LOVE how she changed your perception of small dogs in general. Love this story and can't wait to hear more about her.

She's so sweet - and I'm so glad she found you for a new family.

She has a vet appointment this evening so I'll get an overall health status on her. My main concern right now is her hair loss. She continues to loose small balls of hair. I put them in a zip lock so the vet can see what she's lost in a weeks time.

I stopped by a groomer yesterday and made her an appointment for Friday. I guess I'm gonna go with what's she got. And shave the top of her back which is already loosing so much hair. And keep it longer on her belly. With a trim around the face, butt, and legs.

Congratulations on finding Petunia! She certainly needed your help, home, and love from the sounds of it. I, too, LOVE how she changed your perception of small dogs...Brody and Mia did that for DH as well. Yorkies have the power to paw-wrap even the unsuspecting! lol

With all the issues she had when your DH found her, the hair loss may just be continuing temporarily until she is healed better and her nutritional deficit is vanquished or considerably improved.

You also said she was wearing a shirt when your DH found her...so...if she likes clothes, you can just dress her up while her coat grows back and decide later how to keep her hair...what style you like best on her. Brody and Mia LOVE their clothes...and they are so cute wearing them.

I'm so glad your hubby changed his mind! She looks so much better cleaned up. And she looks all Yorkie to me! :D

She might have an allergy, or picked up fleas while she was roaming around. Both can cause hair loss. If so, the vet should be able to give you something to help. Give us an update when you can!

Our Vet thinks Petunia's more like 10 yrs. old.

She is missing a bunch of teeth. It's not cataracts in her eyes but scratches on her corneal lenses. Her incision from being spayed is healing good. And her heart is good.

Since we never had a flea problem with our other dog, we don't anticipate one with Petunia either. So, for now, the Vet gave a sample of Heart Guard to see if she'd eat it. (She did), and in a month from now, well see if fleas are a problem, or if she just needs Heart Guard to prevent worms.

I explained to the Vet that the first 2 days she was here with us, she would squat many times when she went outside but nothing would come out. She looked like a male dog trying to mark. She'd pee once, but then kept walking around squating all over the place.

She did an ultrasound on her and said her bladder was thickened, but there wasn't any urine in there for her to get a sample.

She thinks she may have a UTI and prescribed her antibotics. In 2 weeks I need to get a urine sample from Petunia for further testing.

Her hair loss has her stumped. Visually, there doesn't appear to be any itchy spots, flea problems, or infections. It almost seems natural that she doesn't have hair there on her back. The Vet said she's 'tanned', and can tell it's been like this for some time. She also doesn't have any hair on her ears, and her feet are basically hair free as well. They look like rat feet.:animal-pa

She said it's possible that she may be mixed with Chinese Cresent. She said Petunia reminded her of another patient. The Vet tech mentioned the name. So, IDK, maybe she'll dig around and give me more information on her potential mix.

I showed her the zip lock bag full of hair she's lost just this week with us. She said give it 2 months. Let things settle down. She's been through so much, is in a new home, etc all. If it continues she'll do some testing.

I also got to see the attack-dog side of the little ankle biter while were there, lol. She was ready trying to hop outta my arms and wanted a piece of a big dog. It was the funniest thing.
