York Ness Snow Monster sighting! 4 Attachment(s) 1. Caught a rare glimpse of the famed York Ness Snow Monster while on our walk Monday ;p 2. Proof! AlaskaNessie lives! 3. A rare shot of the two of them sprinting side-by-side :) 4. I think Lucy has finally settled into our pack. The picture at right is from Monday -- all smiles and happy. The picture at left is from our first group walk together. She looked so grumpy back then! |
That first picture is hysterical. I laughed out loud. I started to hear the "Jaws" theme. Too funny :lol tears |
Oh my goodness! LOL those are classic pictures! made me choke on my water while i looked at them and giggled .. |
Hahaha! Your clan looks great! Lucy looks so much more relaxed and happy!:D |
Love the pics of your pack out enjoying all the snow. WOW what a difference in Lucy's demeanor. You can really tell how happy she is with you guys!! |
Once again great pictures. Everyone looks happy even with all that snow. |
those are such great pics!!!! love them running side by side their expressions are priceless!!! |
Great pictures, thanks for sharing. :) |
Love all the pictures. That side by side is really something! They really do love the snow...it always amazes me  |
Thanks, everyone! Evidently, Anchorage has about 120" of snowfall this winter. We're within 15" of breaking the all-time record for the city -- and we still have two months to do it. |
Great pics- as always!! |
I have to admit those are really good shots but it doesn't mean we are friends on the banning thread. Good to know they like snow, my 2 can't weather it. |

Great pictures as usual Mike! |
Wow!! That shot with the two of them is awesome- needs to be framed! Lucy is gorgeous, definitely looks happier. :) |
Looking at Eddie's 2 pics, I hear the Jaws theme in my head. :p Awesome shots! Love Eddie and Jillie bounding through the snow size by side, and it is great to see Lucy coming into her own in your loving care. :) |
AHHH, snow pictures finally, my favorite!!! I can't get over how the wee ones play in that cold stuff and love doing it!! What a difference in Lucy! You have really turned her life around. It truly shows how happy she is now! |
Awesome pics! Always love your pics too! I love Alaska, it is #1 on my bucket list of places I have to go... |
Thanks, everyone, for the kind words. And Brit, I too like that shot of Eddie and Jillie together! May be my favorite of the two of them together. lynzy420, lol, DO IT! Some people love it (beauty, wildlife, adventure) and others hate it (temperatures, weather, mosquitoes), but I always encourage people to visit at one time in their lives. |
My husband is there ALL the time, but in a much colder area in Fort Greely. I have never been, but wouldn't mind us taking a vacation in July or August to drive the alcan hwy with all the other tourists in their RV's. :D |
oh how cute is this!!!, did it take them long to like the snow?, i watched your video about getting them to like the snow..i live in canada so we prob get snow like you do in alaska, its sooo cold out, meesha is only 20 weeks old, she will go out for a tiny bit only in paths i cleared(the snow is up past my knees right now lol), i try to give her treats like you showed, fleece booties(tried muttlucks but they were too stiff for her to move in)..warm sweater and jacket, she'll want to go back in and shiver..not having fun at all. She dosent like clothes so i thought that might be it, but she looked even more miserable going out naked lol..Yours look so happy, playful and adventurous hopping through the snow..did they not like it like snow when they were younger?...is it just because she is a baby still..i hope she likes snow someday like yours do,great photos you captured here too!lucy looks some happy compared to before more sparkle in her eyes! |

Beyond that, just keep sessions short and fun in the beginning. Bring a favorite toy out if that helps. Otherwise, a great treat. If you have another dog they're used to, let them all out together and see if they play. Good luck! |
1 Attachment(s) thanks so much for the suggestions, maybe its the clothes,i'll have to pick up some of the types you suggested liek horse blankets, might help her feel more comfortable to play outside. yes muttlucks were too stiff, i bought her the itty bitty, and they were like ballet shoes too stiff for the bottom leather part to sit on the ground, the fleece work much better, i picked some up at the local dollar store for 2 $ that work great and have round faux leather on the bottom to protect fr snow a bit more lol(attached photo)i watched all your videos before getting meesha because we have alot of winter here, so i knew in order for meesha to get proper exercise she'd have to like snow!, i always love seeing your yorkies play in the snow...hopefully one day meesha will look as happy as yours in the snow, i'll have to keep trying a bit at a time! apperciate the advice:) |
