We got our baby yorkie today!! 1 Attachment(s) This baby is (blank) no name yet! We brought her home today.. and she's already getting along with out 8 month of Shepherd/Pyrenees girl, Casey.. infact she makes herself "tall" and tells her who is boss! She's not potty trained.. any tips? :) |
She is adorable, and I'm sure she'll be lots of fun. |
There are lots of house breaking hints in this thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/tra...ms-solved.html |
She is adorable! Congrats on your new baby. As far as potty training goes are you gonna crate train, pee pad train? |
what a cute baby! congrats!!! totally am in love w the bow! how old is she? |
1 Attachment(s) Your pup is beautiful - she has such a sweet face. We have a 3/4 pyrenees/lab Zain and Mabel, our little yorkie absolutely loves him - he tolerates her. We always have to watch Zain when he's around Darwin and Mabel since he's so big. It's nice to hear that your two are getting along so well. Let us know her name when you figure it out and I'd love to see some pics of your two together.:) |
ugghhh, apparently, she is ok with peeing in her crate now... so that eliminates crate training her... any more suggestions? |

Congrats on your new little girl... she is a beauty.. check out the threads here on Potty training. when i got my little guy his name was no-name!(the kids of the woman I got him from named him)!!! I did name him Rocco. Enjoy your baby!!and your big guy!! |
congratulations on your new baby! she is beautiful! have you introduced her to puppy peepads at all??? our puppy pixie has used them ever since i brought her home, but i'm pretty sure she learned to do it from my 10 year old yorkie zowi. at first she tried to chew them up and drag them around the house but stopped after about 3 days. wishing you many happy years to come with both of your furbabies! |
She is beautiful! the look on your big girl's face is priceless. Seems like she is saying "Is this staying?" lol. I am still waiting for my pup to grow so more so I can't advise with training a yorkie. I plan on using wee pads myself. Best of luck to you and your pretty girls :) |
Shes is adorable.... As far as potty training goes I guess it depends on what living conditions you have. There are many different way to train a puppy, it depends on whether you have a home with room to run with access to an outdoor enclosure. Or whether it be an apartment with limited outdoors space and walking is your only option. I never used the pee pads, I use news paper and I am an avid user of cage training. I live and swear by it... This is a very hot topic on TY you can read the previous posts and find the answers that you are looking for. Here is where you can find more information on the topic here on TY: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/search.php?searchid=5292274 Its pretty much try and try again, with the process of elimination and finding what works best for you and your new little addition to the family. I also have some tips on my web site that I have used to train my own dogs with much success. http://dawnsyorkies.piczo.com/?g=33521666&cr=7# |

Miss No-Name is adorable!! My advice on potty training...patience, patience, patience...and then more patience :D. Sometimes Zoe is really good at doing what she's supposed to, and then she regresses--she's 6 months. |
She's darling!! Congratulations!! So sweet how Casey puts herself down to the level of the puppy. Looks like she waiting for her chance at the chewy. :D How about Rami for a cute name? (sounds like Rayme) Rami Mae. ;) |
Congratulations! She is so adorable! Bet you are grinning from ear to ear! |
Congratulations what a sweet faced puppy you have. Buster is trained for pee pads indoor and to go outdoors. It took a while and he still sometimes conveniently forgets and he is 20 months old..the Yorkie factor! |
cute cute cute!! congrats! I like McKenna and my friend likes Hilda. I also thought of Suzie |

Congrats!! She is precious! |
1 Attachment(s) day three update... She is very frustrating, there is still no rhyme or reason behind her bathroom habits even with a schedule. We get up at 8, find that she usually has peed in her crate, carry her outside (if we put her down inside it's instant peeage) and then she stands there like "what am i supposed to do here?". Pee pads are no better. She seems to love peeing inside so we figured we would try those... all she does is move them around the house and then pee on the carpet. According to some quick research and a few phone calls, apparently, to my dismay, she was crate kept her entire life, so she was never potty trained at all beyond, "i can go when i want because my crate gets cleaned every day". Any more suggestions? Has anyone been in this unique predicament before? Thanks again for everyones help and support and in return for your help here's another action shot of her playing with casey's toy (which is about a big as she is): |
Aw she is sweet |
Just beautiful!!! |
Congrat's on your new baby!! :) |

Unfortunately this is not a unique predicament. Yorkies can be difficult to potty train. We got Camden at 2 1/2 yrs old and she had been kept in either a kennel or a building her whole life. She didn't have a clue about potty training. It takes a lot of patience and positive training, and consistency. Good luck! |

We have 3 Yorkies. One of them still a puppy. I have a collection of the washable pads that I wash about every other day. May I suggest if you try them to order 2 and then you can put one down while you wash the other. There is also some spray that you can buy at Petsmart that you spray on the pad and it "attracts" the puppy to pee on the pad. It is in the house-breaking section by the pee pads at our Petsmart. Good Luck........ Can't wait to hear what you name her... just in case you are still undecided.... here are a few that I like: Celeste Olivia Simone Rikki Fergie Tatum Chloe |
http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...ddle-pads.html Above is the link..... we purchased some from T-Bumpkins and LOVED them. They wash up very well... and pretty colors to choose from. |

Are you getting up to take her out for potty during the night? If not you really should be, expectably if you are finding pee in the cage in the am. Also if you have not already... Find some way to condense her cage to limit her access to go potty. Because, dog generally will not potty where they sleep even as young as 10 days old. Unless they have no other choice like not being taken out when needed. You may want to purchase a cage with a divider. I found one at wal mart to give you some idea. Please read my tips on potty training off of my web site, I am sure that you find them to be very hellpful. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Go-Pet-Club-Folding-Dog-Crate-with-Divider/15553859 |
1 Attachment(s) Update: Thanks for all of the great advise, she has been peeing and pooping outside and hasn't had any mistakes yet (for now) besides in her crate. She is still nameless for now, i'm going to run that list by the fiance when she gets home, maybe we will find a good one in there. I think we are going to get some of the washable ones as we are going through at least one or two disposables a day. As usual, here is your compensation for the great advice!! |
What a cutie pie! |
