As stated by the OP above...the shelters are full of pups.

By no means is this a White Yorkie or even a so called "Porkie" as 3 breeds were used in this breed....the result is a mixed breed dog.

Is the pup cute, absolutely, all pups are cute, but as stated many dogs are in shelters waiting for homes.....so, why is the OP contributing to the situation??????

Everyone has the right to breed if doing it correctly and without attempting to fool the unsuspecting public with Marketing and False Advertising Ploys.

Exactly what my concern is with the way the OP described this puppy.

This is such a young puppy, how do you know it will stay white or what it will actually look like at maturity. It really doesn't look like any of the breeds that are supposed to be in its makeup. Which is the case in many mixed breeds.

Hello- I actually am the owner of this little pooch, and her name is Charlie. She is now 5 and we could not have asked for better dog!

She has the best temperament, very calm and laid back and gets along fantastic with our english bulldog, Rylie.

Charlie has joined my husband and I (and Rylie) as we live & travel around Europe for the last four years and is the perfect travel companion!

also- the dog was advertised as a mix, not once did the breeder ever call them 'white yorkies', we knew exactly what we were getting. And yes, we did spay our dog.

The puppy picture was certainly a cute picture but it doesn't look anything like a white yorkie puppy to me. It looks like a teeny Samoyed. In this community she did call it a White Yorkie which is what sparked everyones initial interest. Upon reading that its just a mix of 3 breeds, its disheartening to alot of us, because the shelters are overflowing with lots and lots of pups that look just like that. Sorry, but thats a fact. Funny as an older dog he looks like a Maltese or a Shih Tzu depending on the haircut.

She did also state the dog was a mix in her original post... I don't think she did it to cause any intentional conflict at all.

Also, EVERY dog needs a home and this dog has found a great one with us. I just simply wanted to post an update on our little love =)

Your pup is adorable, there is no question about that. As you stated here, EVERY dog needs a home , & is exactly the reason if your not breeding to better a breed then you have no business breeding. As the shelters are Full of pups every bit as cute as yours that will loose their lives each time a BYB breeds their dogs to mixed breeds & they sell them . It takes yet another home away from a very deserving shelter dog. And that is the whole point here.

I'm not looking for validation on my dogs looks, I just simply stumbled upon this thread and thought I could answer a few of the questions that were left over the years (did the owner spay the dog? yes. why did the breeder call this dog a 'White Yorkie'? she never did to me, and while yes, she stated it here, I've never thought of or called my dog that) and leave an update.

I fully support and believe in the choice to adopt & reduce dogs, but I didn't post an update to get into a debate regarding that, or feel like I said anything that would warrant a negative response or make anyone think otherwise?

Sorry if it upsets anyone that I purchased this dog, but I don't feel the need to defend my choice or explain my reasons to judgemental strangers. Every situation is different and without anyone else knowing the details I don't find it fair to judge.

I think it is beautiful no matter what breed. I bet it is sweet as well. You can see it in the eyes.

She sure is a cutie and so precious. Reminds me a little of a mixed breed I had many,many years ago that was Poodle and Pomeranian but looked like a breed all her own. She was beautiful and blonde. I loved her to bits. Had her for 121/2 years. So glad you updated for us and added the new pictures.

Ime if you don't know the life a Show Yorkshire Terrier breeder lives. You wouldn't under stand why some get offended by calling a mix breed a "White Yorkie" For one thing they never wanna see white hair of any sort on there dogs. And all the work it takes to better the breed at a high co$T. It is a cute pup just words for though. Some just don't understand. You give your live to these dogs. The Show breeders trying to breed the best they can. And the rescuers who save all the poor pups from the evil greeders and the mills JMO

I absolutely appreciate all of the hard work & heart & soul that professional breeders put into their dogs. I don't think the average person has the slightest clue what these wonderful people do & the work that goes into it not to mention the stress for the human Moms & Dads of these breeding dogs. I just wish that every owner of a cute little dog would spend just 10 min in an animal shelter & look into the eyes of all of those dogs that NEED homes whom most of witch will die needlessly & senselessly because so many people feel they want/need to breed their dog ( just once) to create more dogs for whatever reason, non of witch is good enough when LIVES are being snuffed out because of over population. I just can't wrap my brain around that, because to me when people purchase a mixed breed they are saying they just could care less that a shelter dog will die. Really IMHO all dogs are the same on the inside, they ALL just want to be LOVED & to LOVE YOU. Don't get me wrong here because I have loved very much each Yorkie I have owned but honestly some of the best dogs I have had the privilege of sharing my life with have come out of High Kill shelters. I honestly think that people that PURCHASE mixed breed dogs from BYB's, Greaders & OOOPs litters are out of their minds. Why ? when you can go to your local shelters or PetFinder & find the same mixed breeds rite there & best of all SAVE A LIFE ! I'm really not trying to offend anyone, but I think as human beings we need to regroup & get our priorities readjusted. If more people would adopt instead of shop for these mixed breeds, then people would think twice before breeding their cute little mixes. I know there will be people saying nonsesne about creating new breeds but come on now, do we really need any more breeds of dogs ?

Absolutely perfectly said!! I wish everyone would take 20 minutes today and just go online to RescueMe Yorkies, and look at the number of purebred Yorkies that are acutually in shelters. It would break your heart. Then just randomly pick any other purebred breed and look at how many are in shelters across the US. Its mind boggling. I'm starting to beleive that especially in the toy breeds, people start dumping them when the dogs aren't puppies anymore and actually require work and love..the novelty wears off and they want a different toy to play with. I'm not picking on the OP, but I agree 100% by putting a name like White Yorkie on that cute little pup, you are creating a terrible situation. The last thing this world needs is to create buzz for a "new" mutt, or so called designer breed. And really, with 3 different breeds of dogs involved, all you have is an extremely cute mutt, with zero claim to the name Yorkie...Its not even 1/2 Yorkie. Ironmike was right when he said that having any white in a Yorkie is one of the first things reputable breeders and judges look for in Yorkies. There isn't supposed to be any white. I wasn't even sure if my puppy was really a Yorkie, but she is..lol..just not a well bred one by Yorkie standards...but she's cute as can be and loving and everything else I could ask for in a little puppy.

I just thought she was just showing a cute picture of her dog. These attacks make me think twice about joining this group. It's not her fault there are dogs in shelters. Geez. I don't think my pup is good enough to talk about here because I don't show her.

No one is attacking the person that bought this "white yorkie" all comments are aimed at the breeder. Many ppl want puppies, not adult dogs, many ppl like to know where a dog has come from, getting a rescue you never know their history, what they went through. Many ppl cannot handle a rescue that may have issues, whether it is social or health issues. It's up to the individual to decide if they want a pure breed, mix or a rescue. I have always purchased my puppies, over the years there has been much media about shelter dogs, several years back I decided if I were ever to get another dog it would be a rescue dog. One that would be loved and doted upon, and I would try to make up to that dog what it should have had from the day it was born. I do now have a rescued yorkie. YT happens to be one of the BEST forums on the internet. There has been no mention of show dogs on this thread so I don't understand why you would say even throw that in. YT is NOT about SHOW DOGS, YT is about the well being of ALL dogs. I am sorry you feel towards YT the way you do. We have a GREAT bunch of loving, caring, knowledgeable members on this forum.

Lady Anabella, I think everyone agrees that the dog is a doll. The issue is naming it a white Yorkie. Its misleading. This forum isn't about show dogs only. In fact I have rarely seen that many threads about show dogs. They are usually in the hands of very experienced breeders and owners and dont have as many day to day questions as the rest of us. I've owned every type of dog there is. Mutt's to purebred and whatever is in between. The papers dont really matter to me. Having this little rescue puppy has made me a passionate advocate on behalf of shelter dogs or dogs headed to shelter. So, I get my Irish up now and then. I think the OP's dog is a beauty. I wish she would change the title from White Yorkie to White Puppy, thats all. So other people dont go around looking for cute white dogs to breed and start another whole bunch of homeless puppies.

I feel the same way you do. I use to think anyone could breed anything they liked, what was the problem, but once you go to the shelter and see all those death row inmates, whose only crime is that nobody wants them, you realize that breeding is very serious business and should only be left to people who understand why it's important to breed to a standard. Plenty of cute dogs at the pound!

I'm sorry you feel that when people purchase a mixed breed dog it means "they just could care less that a shelter dog will die", as that is not the case in my personal situation and we also currently own and have owned rescue dogs in the past.

I find a few of you statements baseless as you have zero idea about anyones personal situation or reasons for purchasing a dog. To just assume that is very, very careless.

You are 100% entitled to your opinions, but maybe you should take a second to realize that not everyone can adopt or rescue a dog due to many factors and situations. If you can and are in the position to do so, I think it's a wonderful choice to make, but if you aren't I don't find it right to judge people based off your assumptions on a situation you know nothing about.

It's really sad this thread has turned into some strange negative debate, yikes!

So this thread could almost be viewed as an advertisement for mixed breed dogs.

(2) I'm not going to criticize the owner of the dog in the original post, since Yorkietalk welcomes owners of mixed breed dogs. However, intentionally breeding "designer dogs" has been criticized elsewhere on Yorkietalk, and indeed there is a thread about the inventor of the first mixed breed dog, the "Labradoodle," stating his regret for intentionally breeding mixed breed dogs.

(3) So although the pup in question is a cutie, it's not a "white Yorkie," and I fully understand the points being made in this thread.

Singularly no it is not but with the attitude that's it is ok to support unscrupulous breeders is no different then supporting puppy mills. Some people just learn from the mistakes they make. I can also assure you the comment she made about being able to buy a mixed breed from an unscrupulous breeder but not adopt from a shelter makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. You get no guarantee of personality from either, you have to go through training & behavioral issues from either & so on & so on. So IMHO that is not an excuse or maybe I should say that it is ( just an excuse ). I am really not trying to attack anyone, only trying to educate. As so many people think shelter dogs are damaged goods & this is so far from the truth. The only damage a shelter dog has was caused by human beings & can be easily reversed by human beings & is no harder than training a new puppy is all I'm saying. And, How could you say that your dog is not good enough ??? for you to be a YT Member ??? ALL dogs are Good Enough ! In my opinion this whole shelter dogs are not good enough is discrimination at it's finest especially since they come from the same dogs & types of dogs as the OP bred for this woman to purchase a puppy from when she could have just as easily saved a shelter dogs life. IMHO the OP should be ashamed of herself for adding to the problem but I guarantee she has no shame that dogs died because she brought more unneeded dogs into this world. I find it odd to judge a situation that you have ZERO knowledge of. Saying "I can assure you" in regardless to me making a comment about adoption and purchasing seems like a stretch because you absolutely can't assure anything you have no facts about? Did you even ask my reasons? No. You made an assumption.

Throwing out baseless and carless comments is very immature and disrespectful. It's a shame you feel the need to judge a complete stranger for their choices off assumptions you've made all on your own. Gathering facts and making an informed opinion is something I 100% support.

If you want to "educate" people and "save lives", start a separate thread about adoption vs buying from an "unscrupulous breeder". And more power to you! (I genuinely mean that)

I was just on the phone with a friend, who runs a shelter. I had just been on a website for a High Kill shelter in NYC, to see what dogs were marked as urgent, I dont think anyone from this website could possibly get the pictures of these dogs out of thier minds. There are so many surrendered by owners, its sickening. Not to mention the numbers that are just left out to die in the street or survive on their own. Ugh. I was in tears when she called and told me, you just dont have the stomach to go on those sites..:(

No one was really ever attacking the person that bought the white puppy. The main problem is the person who is a self proclaimed back yard breeder who basically came on this website to promote her mixed breed dogs for sale. Thats why the pictures and website addy were included. A lot of us know what she's doing, and defending her is pointless. Every single thing Lily Mae said is true. Its not an attack on the dog owner....I personally believe the remarks are being made for people NEW to the forum and to Yorkies as a possible new puppy...some who may be exploring the idea of getting their first one. Being here, you have to expect that people will be very defensive about the actual Breed that is in the Title of the website! I don't know how someone thinks they can blithely come to a Yorkie forum and start advertising a dog with 3 (or who knows how many) other breeds in the background. My Shih Tzu is as close to being a Yorkie as that dog..and he's a fully pure bred ST. This site is filled with information about toy dogs with the main focus on Yorkies. I've discussed my other dog on here, because he's part of the family. But I mainly focus on my Yorkie when here...a rescue who is the product of a reckless backyard breeder. No one can tell me I am being mean because I am just stating my personal experience with this adorable little rescue..who's flaws are all from a breeder who wouldn't take on the expense of getting her healthy, so was going to abandon her..argh. Thats how much backyard breeders care...she knew she wouldn't make any money because of Sunni's medical history, so she was disposable. Do I think all BYB's are like that...probably not, but probably a far greater percentage are in it for $$.
