STOP! and THINK before you pick up a pair of clippers! 2 Attachment(s) That is what I should of done before I spontaneously out of the blue, silly nilly decided to give my Bailey a "trim" I put a guard on the clipper that buzzed the hair right off, ( I had a momentary lapse of sanity, don't know what the heck I was thinking!! ) once I made that first unfortunate strike with the clippers there was no going back  Now my Bailey looks like a stick figure, he is not pleased with his mommy:( Jesse did not know what to think of Bailey after the cut!! Never again Bailey, Mommy is so sorry!:o |
He's still a handsome boy, Darlene. But I understand what you mean. The first time I picked up a pair of clippers to do a dog, she ended up looking as though she lost a fight with a weed whacker. |
He is still a cutie and will forgive you in time I am sure ;) |
"I had a momentary lapse of sanity, don't know what the heck I was thinking!!" I laughed when I read your post! I've done the same, many times....then sometimes make it even worse trying to make it better. I've only had my Yorkie a little less than a year (but have been grooming my schnauzer for about 6 years), but the first time I cut her, I gave her "shorts"...hard to describe, sort of cut the darker fur short over her back legs, but left the lighter fur longer, making it look like she was wearing shorts. Repeat this mantra....it will grow back, it will grow back, it will grow back. Followed by,... at least I didn't pay someone else to mess it up!!! Always makes me feel better, Marg |
Well, I for one...LOVE IT. I think he looks great and you did a terrific job! |
I think he looks great! He looks so neat and nicely groomed. |
Thanks All, You make me feel better, I will not ever do this to him again though! :) |
Awww, I think Bailey looks adorable! You actually did a really nice job on him Darlene. Now is it just me, or does anyone else see a little grin on Jesse's face in that second pic? :D |
I know exactly what you mean... When I gave Khloe her first hair cut, I really regretted it! I still do and I will never cut her hair that short again. However, I think Bailey looks adorable! You did a great job :D |

I think Baily looks grand. You really did a good job! |
Ahhhh, I think Bailey looks fine. You did a good job. A lot better than I could have done. |
I think he looks great Darlene! You did a much better job than the one time I gave Nappy a major chop job, lol. I regretted it, but it did grow back :) The one thing I love about the short cuts, is how cute those little Yorkie bodies are! Bailey is adorable any way you cut his hair. :) |
I like the look,you did a great job. |
Oh he looks cute! Honestly much better than the first oops I made. lol |
if you hadn't said you made a mistake none of us would have been the wiser. He looks great. You did a good job for your first time. the cut looks nice and not choppy. Its probably just shocking to you if you're used to him having long hair. He looks great. Don't be afraid to clip him again in the future. What blade and comb attachment did you use? |
Still so very cute! |
Bailey always looks cute no matter what kind of haircut he gets!!! And Jesse keeps getting cuter and cuter as well! |
Aw, I think he looks great!! He is so adorable!! You didn't do a bad job at all!! You should have seen my first time using the clippers. I was 13 years old, just got my first pair of clippers and decided to use them on my cocker spaniel. The results were horrendous. I ended up cutting off way too much on the feet which was totally wrong for a cocker. What made matters worse is that I had a show with her the next day. So in desperation I carefully made a little wig with the hair I cut off and put it back on. Would you believe it worked, lol. I've come a long way since then and I am now very good with the clippers but it was a learning process. Poor Peppi had to endure several bad haircuts until I got the hang of it.:o |

Well guess what happened next.... I HATED what the groomer did to my boy. I did not even remotely like it. At least when I do it, I don't expect miracles and I save $40. :p |
Thanks to Everyone! I love that some of you shared your clipper experiences too :p Quote:

I, for one, think Bailey looks super adorable. And I had to laugh at your description of how you did it, lol. Jesse has a look of 'haha, at least she didn't do it to me' on his face in the second one. |

Great set of clippers....Andis Master Clipper. They are heavier than what you are using now but I love mine. Sally's beauty supply carries them. |

So i went on petedge and ordered the Andis Ultra Edge 2 speed clippers and a few different andis blades, plus all the things I would need to maintain the clippers. My second haircut was so much better then the first and I've groomed her myself from then on. 3 years later i went to grooming school and used those same clippers instead of the ones they gave me. Now the Ultra Edges are my back up clippers and I have the awesome new andis 5 speed as my main one. Anyway, Good tools make a big difference. With all that being said, i still think you did a great job on your first cut. What look were you aiming for and how is it different then what you got? maybe we can give you some pointers for next time. |
Lol, he looks great, just check out Cooper in my avatar and know you could have done much worse :D lol |
I think you did a great job!! He looks adorable. The look on Jesse's face though is PRICELESS!! :) |
He looks a heck of alot better than Shadow did the first time I trimmed her! I'm learning, but still make mistakes. It does grow back! |
Ohhhh My Gosh!! I think you did a Great Job!!!! He is still sooooooooooo Adorable!!!! I Love Jesse's lil' eye in the second photo!! :D |
He looks just fine- you did great!! What a handsome fella ;) |
I think he looks great! My babies are shorter than that all the time so he still looks long to me. :p |
