Some fun on the pool cover! 4 Attachment(s) So, Jackson (and Lily, my dad's dog) don't seem to understand that you're not supposed to RUN across the pool cover... or play on top of it, LOL. :p |
Man are they having fun. They have no idea what is really under their feet, do they??? |
Jackson's gonna be in for a big surprise when the pool opens in a week or so... gonna have to watch him so carefully so he doesn't make a dive! |
Very cute pictures, they look like they are having so much fun. Has Jackson been in the pool before? |

Cute pictures but wow...are you sure this is something they should be doing? What if the pool cover was compromised in some way and a claw or foot went through and no one saw it happen? There are a couple of very sad posts on YT right now about members losing their dogs to drowning accidents in their pools. Our new house has a pool but it is fenced from the other portion of the yard...I would never allow my dogs to run and play on a pool cover. I hope nothing happens to yours. |
That precious. Thanks for sharing. |
Aww, thats cute... but not very safe!!! Please don't let your babies do that (or just watch them very closely), I don't want anything to happen to them. |
I do worry about pools and the small dogs.. I see there having such fun.. but you really must look and find the threads of people's yorkies drowning.. I have lost accidently not by a drowning.. but it was a loss so unexpected that it was quite unbearable... not to sound negative.. for I do not want you to feel I am.. anne |
Looks like they are having a good time.. |
Trust me guys, I would never let anything happen to him. They only do it when we are outside and Jackson is rarely outside without us being there. I hope you all don't get the wrong impression that we are allowing the dogs to be in danger or harms way. I am a strong believer in drowning awareness and actually run and created CONNOR CARES foundation In Honor of Connor in honor of my 6 year old brother who we lost to a drowning at a country club pool in 2006. So, nobody needs to tell me twice the dangers of water and drowning! Drowning has affected and changed my entire life in ways I wish hadn't of happened. We have events and fundraisers every year to prevent drownings from occurring and I am a huge advocate for the prevention of it. So, I definitely hope you all didn't get the wrong impression and think we are necessarily "allowing" this to happen. We always get them off the pool cover the minute they start to get on it, but this time, they had started playing and I thought it was cute so I snapped some pictures. |

PS - I also don't live there full time. This was at my dads house where we just visit. |

LOL so cute, they look so happy! Bad babies tho.. good thing it didnt fall off.. I love the pic of your baby in mid-stride running... Absolutely adorable! :p |
Lol, thanks. |
Looks like the dogs were having a good time. We are uncovering our pool today (Iowa been a little cold yet) Carlie will be new to the pool, we will watch her closely. We have small grandchildren and our rule is if they are at, near or in the pool one of us adults will be too. Accidents happen so quickly just like your little brother Connor's accident. I am so sorry for your loss, even though it sounds like it has been awhile the pain and memories still remain. Thank you for sharing your pups and your angel Connor with me. :angel2dl: |
We have the same pool cover, it is really durable and tied down with metal hard to get off, I had to walk across it one time, and my GSD went across it, so it will hold the yorkies. Looks like they are having a blast, mine love the pool, but they also have a little wadding pool just for them, the big pool this year is going to be for Kyleigh, I am going to teach her how to swim.:D |

They look so cute :) |
I'm so sorry about your brother. I hope your work helps with your pain. What kind of dog is that with your little one? They sure are cute together. Our neighbors used to have a boxer and one day he discovered the pool cover. He was having a high old time running back and forth avoiding his master. It was so funny watching dog and human battle it out. Human "get off of there!" Dog "Not a chance! Catch me if you can!" |

And my dad's dog is a Jack Russel/shihtzu mix! That's so cute about the boxers! I dogsit for a pair of boxers often and they are something else! |
those are great shots~ |
Those are very cute pics of them playing. God willing no accidental drownings for anyone once the pools are uncovered and opened for the summer. I have a friend whose son (he was one day shy of being two years old) died accidentally in the pool only 3 feet away from her. She was at her cousin's house at a summer barbecue. She has a very large family plus friends and it was the classic everyone thought that someone else was watching him, when in fact, no one was at the time. Apparently he jumped into the pool to be with his mother and no one saw him and he drowned. I will never forget going to the funeral services and seeing that sweet cherub. I do not know to this day how my friend has learned to live with and get past this guilt for the sake of her other children. This happened 15 years ago. I thank God that so far my children have always been safe when swimming. I never take water safety for granted even though drowning has never happened to any family member. I feel for the loss of your brother Connor. I feel for the loss of your nephew Steve. I pray for a safe summer for all. :rose: |
looks like they were having lots of fun in the sun!! but where are their swim shorts?:) |
HAhahahahaa!!! Those pictures are too cute! |
I just read through this whole thread and I'm SO sorry about your brother. What a horrible thing that must be to go through. Obviously you are hyper-vigilant around the water now. I don't worry about Jackson one bit. His mama loves him and will protect him. |
such cute pictures! they sure do look like they are having a blast!:D |
