My Baxter is a year and a half blonde wavy haired Yorkie. He is very active so I try to keep his hair simple. I gave him a short summer cut and his face all the same length as his coat. It was adorable. He looked like a little teddy bear and easy to manage. Don't have that pic on this phone unfortunately. |
Hi. I'm new here and I see your original post is quite old but I had a Yorkie with silver cotton hair that I kept in a puppy cut year round. As soon as I figure out how it shrink file sizes I can send you several pics (if you're still interested). |
Hello, I also just got a Yorkie in October and will take him for his first cut next week. I am so scared! LOL I do not know how I want his hair done. Confused if I want him to have a topknot or to just give him a puppy cut and have it short everywhere. A little concerned because I read that when you cut around the eyes the hair can grow back quickly and poke their eyes. So not sure if I want to grow out the hair on his head and keep the body short... He also has fluffy hair and the hair on his head is coming in completely gray/silver. He's looking like a stressed old man! haha Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, how long should topknots stay in? |
Marie Elise, I'm certainly not an expert, but I found that in between hair cuts, my dog's hair between her ears would grow down into her eyes. If I could do it all over, I would get her used to a top knot from an early age then keep head and body with modified puppy cut. My girl had bigger ears too so if her ears weren't clipped, they would flop down in a funny way |
Thanks so much for the advice Missmybabygirl! I think I will go with the topknot next week. His hair is pretty much going towards his eyes now and I think his hair grows fast. This will probably be the best solution. |
