Resizing pictures.... Okay, I've read all about it in the how-to section BUT my question is..... is there any way to resize pics without downloading a program to do it from? At work I don't have the "authority" to download any programs so I'm patiently waiting for our IT guy to come do it for me but I hated having to tell him why I wanted it, ya know? The site that was recommended in the how-to thread was irfanview.com. Just wondering... is that the one that most of you use or is there a better one (for when he finally gets around to coming to help me)? Thanks!! |
Most computers come with regular Windows "Paint", you can do it in that program. You can also do it at Photobucket. To do it in Paint just choose "image" and then "stretch/skew" and choose the percent bigger or smaller that you want it. |

Thanks! haha You just answered my Paint question as I was typing. I'll try it. |
This is a site where you can upload your photo and then tell it what size you want it and then save it on your PC. It's handy I know there are several members who I've recommended this too that find it very easy to use. Online Image Resizer - Resize digital photo, images or pictures online! |
Here's a way to do it without any software at all. Email them to yourself! Most email programs (AOL, Hotmail, etc.) will give you the option of re-sizing pictures when you send them. I grab a whole bunch at once (maybe 20 pics or so) and email them to myself using hotmail. They are automatically perfectly resized for YT - without having to download anything. |
Okay, I'm looking at Paint and I have a picture I'm practicing with. What percentages and degrees would I need to set the stretch and scew for to make it the largest acceptable size for YT upload? |
After you resize it in Paint, you can go to "image" and "attributes" and it will tell you the size you made it, but it won't resize it from there, but it just cuts off a portion if you change the numbers. |
I normally just google "free photo resizer" or something similar to that and pick one of the options that come up. Picresize.com works pretty well. I've also used resizr.com and photosize.com. All of these sites just have you upload a picture, resize it and then save it to your computer. |

It depends on how big the picture is to begin with. The albums will take a picture around 600 pixels or 6 inches wide, the regular thread will take a picture 800 pixels or about 8 inches wide. Some people make them too small, so don't do that! If it's a little too big Yorkietalk automatically resizes them. To get the picture in the same porportion just change the percentage the same in both the horizonal and vertical, for example change both to 80%, and see if that's small enough. You don't have to change the degrees. |
Microsoft office picture manager allows you to resize pictures. You can also resize them in your Kodak Gallery. Click a picture...then click edit. |

1 Attachment(s) Let's see.... did I do it right? Hey, I see it! That was too easy. If I'd known that you could use that site without downloading the program, I would have been doing it all along. Thanks "Gypsy&Me"! Oh, by the way.... that's our daughters in the pic along with the goats they showed in the fair a few months ago. It was just the one I picked to play around with. |

1 Attachment(s) Thought I'd try one more so you could see my "other girls". I used the same site but would still love to know if it's possible to do it directly on Kodak Gallery. Goodness, the more I look at these pictures, the more I realize how much my camera sucks! I've actually been using my husband's work camera but FINALLY was able to get one of my own yesterday. I'm hoping it takes much better pictures! By the way, I've seen posts that have pictures in between paragraphs. How do you do that? Everything I type ends up above the picture. |
I use photobucket or Tinypic. |

I don't know about Gallery, I have the Easyshare software but I don't know if it's the same. I'll look in a minute. To post pictures between paragraphs you upload the photos like normal and to insert them into the post you click where you want the photo and then click that little arrow to the right of the paperclip on the top row of the editing functions where you type. Select the photo you want and it'll post it within the text. |

Is the Kodak Gallery an online site or a program on your PC? |

You have four beautiful girls! |
1 Attachment(s) Thank you both! I'm so excited. I probably sound like I'm an old grandma but seriously, for my age I should know more about technology. I just don't have time to play with stuff and learn it. By the way.... here I am! ;) I'm getting the hang of this picture thing. Attachment 260267 Kodak Gallery is on-line at KODAK Gallery: Print, Store & Share Digital Photos—Order KODAK Prints, Photo Books, Photo Cards & Gifts. I love it. It lets you share whole albums easily with people. I've just found it really easy to work with so far but I haven't tried other programs. You do have to download the pictures into "My Pictures" on your computer and then upload them onto Kodak Gallery. |

Attachment 260272 You're right! It worked. I love this one because she was "smiling"! Before, I was saving a pic from Kodak Gallery into "My Pictures" and then using the pic resizer site. THIS is so much easier! Seriously, I just finally figured out how to download stuff onto the girls' Zunes (mp3 players) this Christmas withOUT having to agonize over it first. And they've had them since last Christmas! I finally got it down now though and even downloaded pics on them too. I'm practically the University expert that everyone comes to for our University's accounting system but when it comes to other technology, I get so frustrated! You have totally made my day! :D |
