Sully's 1st grooming...can you tell a difference? 1 Attachment(s) Well, Sully finally made it to his 1st grooming appointment today at 10 a.m. We asked all over town about where to take him...everyone said somewhere different...so we just went to PetSmart. Given it was my first time, and Sully's too, I didn't expect perfection. (Nor did we get it.) They cut his tail hair SO short....and he used to have gorgeous long tail hair! I'm crushed! And his face is a little here-and-there.....a little short in places and obviously untouched in others. I did carefully explain to her what I wanted around his nose/eye area - and she didn't follow my directions about that AT ALL! But, all in all, he looks pretty good. It's a learning process.... Sully is so soft now and he smells just wonderful! (I tried so hard to find the "dos and dont's" thread about grooming but finally gave up, grrrr, I was planning to print that out and take it with me!) |
I think he looks very handsome! |
Wow, what beautiful coloring! |
Val: Sully looks so handsome. They did a perfectly fine job. Don't stress, it's great. |
I think he looks handsome...I can really see the coat colors you were talking about..at least you didn't cry...lol, I bawled when I picked Maximus up..not because of the coat but because when they cut the hair in his face he looked soo grown up...lol!! |
OMGosh, he looks so cute. He is definetly going to be a blondie. LOL How old is Sully? I would guess just under a year and if so I bet by the time he is 2 he will be very blonde. OH, HOW CUTE he will be!!!! |
Val, He really does look great! When I first took Josie she was completely shaved. I was furious! Sully looks very handsome. What a cutie! :aimeeyork |
Ah Sully looks so handsome! He really has lovely coloring. |
Sully is so cute! It's not a huge change, but it does make him look more groomed...and he looks beautiful! |

He looks adorable! I too had my Indiana groomed for the first time at 12:00 today. But I had him cut really short. I live on a farmette in the country and have horses so there's too much for him to get into and get filthy. Thought the shorter cut would be better for us. But what a change in him! He was pretty much black and tan with ALOT of silver underneath. He's now all silver. Thought I was picking up a different dog! At least yours wasn't so much of a change. Sully is very handsome! |
Sully looks great! At least his "before & afters" aren't drastic!!! I took Kodah & Stormy in last week & last thing I said before leaving was don't shave their nose. Guess what - when I went to pick them up she said "you will just have to forgive me, I shaved the "black one's" nose before I remembered what you said!" It's a good thing Stormy's hair grows fast because she certainly did shave it!!!!! |
Awwww, Sully you cute little man. You're growing up so fast and turning so silver! Your coat looks so soft and silky. Bet you're a lot cooler now. Now tell mommy that you need an extra treat today for all the "trauma" you've been thru, hehe!! |
He looks great. And I am saying this not only from my personal perspective but also my groomer perspective. He has gorgeous coloring. He may seem a little choppy in areas especially on his head and face because it is really hard to get it completely even when they are moving around. It will grow out and you wont even notice it. |
Aww I think he looks so cute! I love the "tiger" look on his body with the black and brown! Looks great! |
I think he looks great Valerie! What a beautiful little Sully!!!! |
He looks great! Maybe he wiggled around a bit and that's why they didn't get his face the way you wanted it? It looks wonderful though! What a pretty doggie! |
Well..once again - Chanel and Cheri are panting with those tongues hanging out - he looks very good - at least Petsmart didn't BOTCH his haircut - we went once and that was the only time - he looks darling and he does have some pretty colors for real..... I think it's better to have a LITTLE cut than have too much cut - you can always go check out the other groomers now ....We did walk thrus one day to just observe and that's a good way to check them out before you make that big appointment. |
Sully looks very handsome, and I love his coloring! |
I think she did a good job! I like it lily |
Sully is such a handsome little fellow. Don't get discouraged, you will find a great groomer. It just takes some time. :) |

**How often do you all take your yorkies in for grooming?** Sully is prancing around the house like a brand new dog....you should see him. I'm sure he's feeling lighter and quite handsome! I read him all of your compliments and you're going to give him a big head! I think he already has one and that's why he's prancing around like so. He's light on his toes, it's so funny! |

I printed out the dos and do not's for Maggie's groomer. I told her it was not to offend her, but there were so many questions to ask--that I just wrote everything down. She did tell me that she does not like to keep puppies on the grooming table too long. She said, they can't handle being messed with that long. When I picked Maggie up, she looked pretty much like Sully. Trimmed up, and smelling very nice. She recommended that I have her groomed every 6 weeks. She said the more I have her groomed while she is young, the easier it will be when she is an adult. She told me that some adult Yorkies, that have never been to a groomer---are pretty snappy. I for sure don't want Maggie to be snappy. |
Well, you have encouraged me to chance getting Copper trimmed. I ran into a guy at an antique shop in Mt. Dora, FL who has a yorkie....he keeps him long, but trims the face some so that you can see the eyes...that is what I think I want for Copper. Anyhow, he gave me the name of his groomer....a lady who does it from her home. I am going tomorrow morning. I will let you know how it turns out. She may only do a little face trim tomorrow and a full groom later. Depends on how busy she is when I get there. I am nervous, but she comes highly recommended. |

This was Sully's first grooming and they expected him to be wild and hard to manage but when I came to pick him up...they were amazed and complimented me on his very calm behaviour! The trainer there at PetSmart noticed and said that I brought him up right, and treated him more like a person than a dog, and that's why he's so easygoing and calm natured. Hmm, never thought of it that way, but I am lucky! Sully has the best little personality of any animal I've ever met! The trainer also saw Sully's tricks and asked me a few questions about him, my methods etc....and then they offered me a part time job as a trainer there at PetSmart! Imagine that, right?! I told them most likely not but I'd think about it. :) I think I'd love that job though. |
Sully!!! You sexy little devil you!!!! You look soooo handsome!!!! All the cute little girls will be drooling over you now!!!! ;) |
