A little about us.......... 3 Attachment(s) I would like a minute of your time to tell you a little more about myself and family and LARGE fur family..... I am happily married, and have Greyhounds and now my Yorkie. Meet: MAXIMILLIAN And here is Domino, my heart GH, learning that Max is not a toy, but his new brother. I can't tell you how proud I am that there was no aggression or confusion! (Please, don't worry...my GH are not high prey drive....and they are muzzled when I am not home and when necessary, Max will stay in a playpen!!) Please wish us a long and healthy life!! |
Your yorkie is very cute! How do your greyhounds eat and drink?? That doesn't look enjoyable... :( I don't think I would be comfortable leaving that on my dog(s) all day long. |
He's just precious! Welcome to YT!! Looking forward to learning more about you and that adorable little guy of yours!! |

If you were to do any research on Retired Racing Greyhounds you would learn that they are muzzled a lot from they time that they are born. When a greyhound races they wear a basket muzzle to protect their very thin paper type skin. They have no body fat to speak of and they have very very little hair for protection compared to many/most breeds. I can show you pictures that would rip your heart out just from the speed of a GH hitting a tree branch, or even a fence. A muzzle just keeps the animals safer than without. I live on 2.5 acres fully fenced. When my GH wants to do what they do best, which is run at speeds up to 40 MPH in a matter of 3 strides....they wear their muzzles. I KNOW I am being a good pet owner by doing this. My GH'S are not agressive in any way, most GH'D arn't. But, on the off chance that in meeting a new pup that is as small as a toy to a GH, it was done to protect the new baby. I am not in anyway trying to start an argument, but I would think that as responsible pet owners, a person would please ask quesions before making judgements as to the happyness of a hound in a muzzle. They are very used to eating and drinking with a muzzle on. You would be amazed. Mine are given a treat when a muzzle is going on and off: and get so happy because they know that they are going to get to RUN RUN RUN!! As a new Yorkie owner, I hope I am able to learn from you all as much as you may be able to open up to different breeds and understanding the vast differences in all animals. :) Sheila and CO |

Thank you so much for "having my back!! :lol tears : :thumbs up As a matter of fact, you will notice that Domino, (my skinny butt) is wearing his jimm jamms..which are 4 legged sleepers because he is all bone and muscle and it is 37 here tonight (in the middle of the Mohave Desert). So as with all our precious animals, we take care of them to keep them warm and happy!! :) |
Aww, both of your babies are adorable!! Max is such a cutie and I love your Domino's pjs!! I think it is wonderful that you are such a responsible caring pet owner. I have met several greyhounds, they have all been such sweet hearts, just the sweetest dogs. Do you take in retired greyhounds? And you are right, most of them are use to muzzels and have no problems with them. I never thought about them wearing it when running though, thanks for explaining that, it makes sense. I do know they have thinner skin and leaner bodies and huge chests to accommodate their heart and lungs that are made for running. I always joked that Daisy (border collie mix) had some greyhound in her because she has a big chest, loves running and has the aerodynamic ears, lol. |

Well, to be totally honest here we have 6 GH and now the Yorkie. Yes it is a house full, but the GH is such an easy breed. The saying goes: They are like Lays potatoe chips..you can't have just one! But that is why we live where we do...I hope I won't offend anyone our web page is www.greyacres.com. We have since adopted a tri-pod. She is my DH heart. Thank you for the warm wishes. It is funny, I cried like a baby on the way home from Las Vegas with Max in my coat, seat belt on us both. (we were safe...please no more flames.....just wanted to show how happy I was..) :D Sheila and CO |

I am sorry if I misunderstood. No excuse, but I have been awake since Sunday afternoon at 1 pm. After work went to Las Vegas to get the pup, it took 12 hours, (by the time we were done doing everything..) so maybe I was being emotional. GH have been my life for 6 years, and now I have the last of my dreams..my Yorkie. Anyway, been doing all the animal chores since...but would not change a thing...to excited to sleep also... :D |
Your yorkie is a cutie, and I LOVE your greyhound too! My mom has two italian greyhounds and had one retired racing greyhound, but when she and her husband divorced, Mindy (GH) went with him. You have such a cute crew there! Welcome to YT! |

Do they make good pets for the city? There are a few in my neighborhood and I kind of feel bad that they can't run around more. |

Thats kind of unfair. We know yorkies, not greyhounds. And she did ask a question, then stated her opinion. I dont think she was questioning whether or not you are a good pet owner. Anyways, love your pups. I think GH's are so beautiful...if I were going to get a larger dog, I would imagine it would be a GH. Welcome to YT...we are a passionate bunch, in case you didnt notice, lol. I would hope that nothing written is meant to be personal. As a new member to the YT family, expect that not everyone will agree, but you will always be embraced as "one of us". |
Yes, we have sorted it out. We are all happy again!! :D (I over reacted about the part about not looking enjoyable! And I guess I am just as passionate about "my" dogs. :D So I hope I didn't offend anyone and again, sorry if I overacted..just hit a sore spot about the muzzles. A lot of people think they are mean because they wear a muzzle. (Which I guess is a very common mistake..given the bully breeds that do wear them to protect others) If the truth be told, they are sorta afraid of Max. Kinda sad really....but funny to!! Greyhounds make a great city dog. A few walks a day and they are good. You would be suprised how many live in apts. They don't call them the 40 MPH couch potato for nothing!!:D |
No offence taken and certainly none meant. Wow, 7 dogs, you must have your hands full of love! How wonderful. I can remember a few years ago I was out for a walk and I saw an Italian Greyhound wearing a pink sweater and a matching hat with a pompom on it. My boyfriend at the time thought it was horrible, nothing meaner....but in my eyes it was the most beautiful creature to walk the face of the earth. Too bad Charlie didnt work out for you, but it looks like you found your perfect little one anyways...meant to be :) |
Sometimes it's the TONE of the question that puts people off. I can understand that also. I'm glad it was worked out, though. |
Max is a cutie! welcome to YT! |
Welcome to YT! I have a retired racer and a yorkie puppy. They get along great!! Of course it's hard NOT to get along with a greyhound;) My grey girl is so quiet and calm..Boomer has added alot of life to her days!! When she gets tired of him nipping at her muzzle, she just gives me "that look" and goes into her room. My husband and I get lots of laughs walking them around the block:D . Good luck with your new baby! |
Welcome to you and your fur-crew. They are just beautiful. So glad you are now finding out the joys of adding a Yorkster kid. I just added my third one and I'm back to being VERY busy and love it! How far are you from the CA. border? |
Congrats on your new furrbaby! He is soooo adorable! |

Welcome and congratulations on your new baby! I read through your website and found out things I never would have known about Greyhounds. I will never look at them the same again. What beautiful soulful eyes they have and what a wonderful person you are to dedicate yourself to them! Warm regards, |
aww both fur kids are just adorable:) |
AWWW! How precious! and GORGEOUS Grey! I'm planning on rescuing one in the next 3-5 years. It's always been a dream of mine. Good luck with your adorable little one!! |
Welcome to YT! All of your babies are DOLLS!!!! |
Welcome, your pups are cute. I have always been interested in greyhounds we have a few tracks in our area and always felt bad for the dogs. I think it would be great to own one some day, are they good with kids? |

Welcome to YT! Watcha going to do when you find out you can't have just one yorkie?? :D :D Wow how wonderful that you can provide forever homes for so many grey hounds. It's so sad here in Iowa -- there was a bad fire a few days ago at a facility that was housing many GH - they all survived, but the faility was heavily damaged. They are beautiful animals |
