Zackie, my 2 year old Yorkie died last night.

Im so sorry to hear about your loss. My Sophie passed away tragically 5 weeks ago to the day and my heart is broken and the pain is still as bad as the day it had happened. I get through by knowing that I loved her every second of her life. Just remember how much you and your family loved him. Im thinking of you, and I feel your pain.

I am so sorry to hear of this his photo is just precious. It takes awhile for the shock and sorrow to ease. Take one day at a time.

When we moved to this house our cat ran off the edge and landed in the basement. Lucky he wasn't hurt but he was stunned. We'd never had a house with stairs before so he had no clue.

I actually still visit Yorkietalk every so often. For some reason though, I tend to only read the In Memory Of section. I could never fully leave this site, as the members here were so warm and comforting when Zackie died. Since this thread was revived, I might as well post a short update. Zack died nearly two years ago. I still miss him tremendously. Luckily, he is buried in my parents backyard, so I still visit him. Anyway, Yoyo is now almost 2 and an absolute doll. About 6 months ago, we moved to the suburbs and now have a big (fenced in) yard for Yoyo to play in. She absolutely LOVES being able to run around and play fetch virtually every day. Yoyo is super friendly, and outgoing, and loves everyone. My wife is heads over heels in love with yoyo as well, and Yoyo sleeps in our room virtually every night (either on her bed or in our bed with us). She is fully housebroken and alwasy barks when she has to go out. We have a cat and a kitten, and the three of them get along so well. (Yoyo and the kitten tend to nap in the kitchen in Yoyo's second bed all of the time. They are really cute together and best friends). Not much else to report. But, again, I do want to thank everyone on here for the help they gave me when I needed it most. Losing a pet is so very difficult, and no one can truly understand it unless they have gone through it themselves.

Good to see you post! It is almost 2 years since I lost my Heidi and Pixie will be 2 in june.
YoYo sounds like a real joy..i'm so glad to hear how happy she has made you!

Last night, I had to go to work and Zack was watching tv with my wife. After watching tv, my wife brought Zack to the main level of our apartment to put him back in his pen to go to sleep. Unfortunately, Zack jumped down and ran outside through an open French door onto our small terrace. He kept going and fell around 40 feet. This took place at around 2:10 am as I was on the way home from work. My wife was frantic. I called the police and they came and helped us go through the neighbor's house to get to the backyard behind our apartment. (The people who live in our building wiht backyard access were not home). As soon as I saw little Zackie, I knew he had died. I climbed over the fence and picked up my little baby. I will avoid the gruesome details for you all. Anyway, I carried Zackie up to our apartment and put the mattress from his bed into a box and lay Zack on top of that. I alos put some of his favorite toys in there with him. He looked so peaceful, almost asleep that I just stared at him waiting for him to wake up.

Zack stayed on his mattress in the box in our room all night. I could not sleep at all. I have not been able to stop crying since this happened. Zack was my best friend who was always there for me no matter what. No matter how hard life became, he was there to cheer me up. I just had someone pick him up who will hold his body until I can bury him. I decided to bury Zackie in my parent's backyard (they loved him as well). That way I can visit him as often as I like. I have never lost a pet before. In fact, other than goldfish, Zack was my first pet of any kind. I am absolutely devastated. I know it has been less than 12 hours, but how long will it take for this feeling of loss and utter devastation to go away? This is absolutely killing me. I miss him so much already and can;t stop thinking about all the fun times we had and how much I will miss not having him in my life in the future.

Please please please tell me that this feeling of loss and sadness will go away. I miss my pal Zackie and always will.

First of all let me tell you how sorry I am for your loss. I couldn't help myself and cried while reading your post. Just by looking at Zack's picture I could tell what a sweet spirit he was. I have an 8 month old "Loli" who I feel the same way about. She is my best friend and I couldn't imagine life with out her. I wish there was something I could say or do...
You and your wife and your sweet Zack are in my thoughts and prayers. May your heart be filled with wonderful memories of your adorable baby. May you feel peace and comfort knowing what an amazing life Zach had. I am sure you feel so blessed to have has Zach in your life even though it was such a short time. Again, my thoughts are with you. RIP little Zach. You are loved and will be missed.

I am so sorry for your loss of little Zack for I just lost my little one year old yorkie, Theodore to a liver shunt so I understand your pain...It is the hardest thing we will ever go through and in time I am sure the pain will be less but for now just keep thinking of all your happy times together and not the end...I know these little guys are with the Lord having so much fun and one day we will see them again...I cried for days after Theo passed away and now I get choked up when I think of him, but this is because I loved him so much and he is left an empty space in my heart. I wish I could tell you the pain will go away but I am afraid it doesn't. These little ones touch our hearts like nothing else ever could... Peace be with you in your time of mourning...

the unconditional love a dog has for it's owner, will always be carried in your heart Allan. I've lost 3 dogs and have a 10 year old yorkie now JD, their all different and special in their own ways. Time leaves you with all the good memories.

Well, it has been over a year since I last updated this thread. Yoyo just turned 3 a few weeks back. She is (still) a wonderful dog and a loving companion. We play fetch, go for long walks, and relax together all of the time. She just helps me get through and and all hard times that I encounter. My sweet Zack has now been gone over 3 years. However, I still miss him tremendously. Although I have now had Yoyo far longer than I had Zack, Zack will always remaind my first doggie. I still talk to Zack when I go my parent's house as he is buried in their back yard. I update him on everything and still often cry when i talk to him.

Well, one other thing to update on... We have since added another member to the family... Alexandra is 11.5 months and a wonderful (human) child! She is perpetually smiling and always happy. She loves playing wiht Yoyo and the cats.

Anyway, I just thought I would update Yorkitalk with what has been going on....

I am in tears w/ you. I had the best cat. He traveled althe way from cali to new york in a car! when we got back to cali. he had dispeared. I was so torn about him being gone i cryed so much. it is 14yrs. now and I still think of his funny sweet self. Doesn't help that i have him tatted on my chest but the memories and love will remain and there will be days of tears but you and your heart will heal. God bless you and your family.

I am so sorry to hear about your baby. I lost my Lily about three weeks to a genetic disease and it is still so hard. It's the hardest when I come home and she's not there to greet, cuddle, and play with me. I just keep thinking about all the good times that I had with her. I even talk to her picture and kiss it goodnight every day. I go to the pet shop every other day to play with the dogs. I'm not ready for another one but it makes me happy to get the puppies out of those little cages. And I figured I will know when I am ready for another. It will just happen or it won't I wont force it. Another dog will never replace my Lily but she made me so happy that I think eventually I want to share my love with another. I am so sorry for your loss. Stay close the people you love. My family has been great. Don't be afraid to cry I always feel better after. You and Zackie are in my prayers! xoxo
