Gia died this morning!!! As many of you know, I had sold Gia last Friday night to a couple that lives near here. Here is the original thread for those of you that don't know about her... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6456 Anyway, I got an e-mail from the guy that bought her and he told me that she died this morning! Here's a bit from his e-mail... "Hey Kim, some sad news to report...Reena didn't make it. I just came back from the vet at 11:30 a.m....there was nothing they could do. No reason, heart just stopped. I'll just have to wait and see if my heart will let me even entertain the thought of another Yorkie. I just don't think it will be the same. Thanks for you concern in this matter." I am at a complete loss for words! Her original visit to the vet (when they first got her) showed her to be a healthy happy pup! They've only had her a week and I feel SO bad for them! :( I've never heard of a puppy's heart just stopping! Have any of you? |
Oh my goodness, that is so sad. I'm sorry to hear that. :( |
I am sorry. This is so sad. She obviously must have had other things wrong with her. How is the couple you gave her too. Hopefully they will find another puppy. |
I am so sorry to hear this news . You and they will be in my prayers . I is very sad to lose a little one . |
we've only been e-mailing each other and he is now inquiring about one of my pups. They won't be ready till the end of June. Maybe he thinks he'll be ready by then. I questioned him about it. I just don't want him to get another one, think it'll have the same personality as the one they just lost. :( |
Im so sorry to hear about Gia. So sad. Rest in peace Little Angel Gia. |
Oh My Gosh! How terrible! Your heart muxt be aching! Please know our thoughts are with you! Pat |
OMG - that's terrible to hear - my heart dropped when I read this - I'm so sorry for all of you and especially little Gia - that's just tragic....I don't know what to say except that I'm so sorry ...Rest in Peace Little Gia |
I just can't believe that she died so suddenly. The owners didn't go into much detail of their e-mail. I don't know if she was sick this morning and that's why they took her in or if she was in a coma or what. It is so tragic none-the-less. :( |
I am so sorry to hear that news. Our thoughts are with you and the family that purchased her from you. |
I am so sorry to hear the news... it is just to shocking. I am so sorry!! May she rest in peace :( |
Something seems suspicious about the "breeder" you bought her from. Have you contacted her again about this? I'm so sorry about precious Gia. |

Soo sorry for your loss. |
I'm So Sorry I'm so sorry for your loss. I could tell from your posts how much you loved her and wanted her to find a good home. :( Not to upset you, and this could just be the law student in me, but the circumstances of her death seem very strange. You said she was fine for her previous vet check........You would think if she was acting ill, they would've e-mailed you earlier to see if you had any advice. Also, why are they being so vague with you when you ask questions? I hate to say this.......but I'm wondering if there was not some kind of accident that killed her (like she got stepped on or something). I think you need to get those vet records before you give away one of your pups. |
He has sent me another e-mail about my pups and he would like for me to cut him a deal since all of the trauma that he has had. He still did not answer any questions that I had about her and if she had been sick, etc. I no longer feel good about this and doubt HIGHLY that I will sell them a pup again. Another thought that has crossed my mind is...he still owes me $250 which he said he will put in the mail Monday (with monday being a holiday, I will hope for Tuesday). Anyway, my thought is that maybe Gia is alive and fine and the reason he told me that horrible story is because he thought I would give him a break from paying the rest of the money. I told him he had till next Friday to get the money to me. |
If you are questioning them I would ask them for something from their vet stating she died. They don't seem like they want to talk about her death much. I would question it too. |
What's going on?? Something is not right here........I'm just not sure exactly what it is, but I know something is wrong. The best case scenario is that you could be right and she is still alive and he just doesn't want to pay what he owes you. I'd hate to think someone would stoop so low as to say that she died just to keep her, but I'm sure it happens. The worst case scenario is that she really died from an accident and he thought you would cut him a deal or give him a free pup because of her death. Either way, I would ask for the name of the vet she saw and for her vet records. If you have to, you could tell them some story about you having a relative of the pup that you were going to breed and you are concerned that if it is genetic then the pups you breed will be affected or any other story you can think of. Do they live nearby where you could just show up unaanounced at their door and see if the dog was there?? Is there any other way to figure out what really happened? Just curious..was he looking for a female pup from you or a male? |
Well, Tara, I have 4 female pups. One is sold and a lady is coming to look at one tomorrow. All including the owner of Gia are from Houston/Bay City. Anyway, here's the latest e-mail that I sent him.... Esh, Monday is a holiday so you'll have to either do it tomorrow or Tuesday. The lady is coming tomorrow to take a look at my other female. If she decides she doesn't want her for whatever reason, you can get her. What vet are you using and what is his number. I wanted to talk to him because if Reena was sick in ANY way, I want to know. She slept with my puppies and if she had some type of viral or bacterial infection, I need to know so that I can get my pups treated. Kim We'll see if he responds. |

What sucks is that I felt so bad for him. I mean, I feel bad that Gia is gone because she was such a beautiful pup, but now, I'm so suspicious of everything and I HATE feeling this way!!!! |
Good E-mail Quote:
The reason I asked whether it was a male or female is because I thought he might be trying to get a male to breed with her or something. I'm glad he wasn't. That was an excellent e-mail to him! Your reason for wanting to get in touch with the vet was great. It made perfect sense and he shouldn't question it for a moment. I'm very curious to see what his response is. Keep us posted. |

Ohhhhh Kim, I know what you mean. You don't know whether to grieve for Gia or be pissed at him for lying to you. I'm sorry you have to go through this. I hope you find answers soon. |
Hello all Yes, I have been eavesdropping in on this situation. 1st my condolences goes out to you. I must say I aggree with Tarawood and your suspicions. :eyebrow2: Everyone of us here knows that is we bought a pup that was acting a little sickly or ill (even if we knew in advance the illness the pup had) we would be right on the phone with whomever we brought the furbaby from in an instant!!! Wondering if what the pup was doing is the norm for him etc. (Any and all questions would be asked) Not only that but, if you only had your furbaby for a week and it died...would you really want another one from that breeder/owner or litter??? I believe you said you purchased her from someone else. (never the less it still applies the same way) Something is not right...and you maybe right about Gia being alive and well. :aimeeyork I agree...get those vet records. :icon1: (if they even exsist) Maybe drop by his house to see if little Gia is being walked or playing in the yard since you said they live near. :camera: But, I would also like to say...it is ones like him that mess it up for everyone else...what I am saying is...you allowed him to get Gia before you were "paid in full". That was a nice gesture for whatever your reasons were :) Don't allow him to change your heart condition. BTW...his email doesn't sound like he is traumatized at all. The nerve he has about "cutting you a deal" Maybe you should be cutting him another deal by not having him investigated! Sorry, I just needed to vent on this a bit. Signed Gizmo's angry mom  |
Actually, they live in Bay City. They said it took them 3 hours to get to my house. They must have taken the scenic route. Anyway, I STILL have not heard from him. I might have been born yesterday, but I wasn't born last night. I had taken $500 in cash and told him I would send her AKC papers once I received the remaining $250. A lady is coming to see this other pup that I have. I only told him if she didn't want her he could have her because I don't want him to get discouraged and just not send the money. I am not going to let him buy another pup from me. When he was here, he told me that he "use" to raise Rotties but didn't have them anymore. Maybe that was just a lie and he was just telling me what I wanted to hear. Maybe Gia had gotten attacked? I am SO full of questions. I will keep you all updated if/when I hear from him! |
I agree, if I bought a puppy and it died within a week, from a heart condition, I would be pissed!!!! (and very upset, obviously). I would demand a refund immediately or this would need to be rectified. Since this is not the case, I cannot believe this puppy just dropped dead for no reason. How sad, I am so sorry. |
pup I would insist the vet do a necropy... |
I'm so sorry to hear about Gia. How sad. I have heard of the heart just stopping. Friends of ours had a little 3lb one year old Yorkie. Her name was Rampaige. (they called her Paige) and she just didn't wake up one morning. The Dr. said her heart just stopped and they didn't know why. He did say it was very rare. How sad for you and for her new owners. You are all in my prayers. |
Exactly!!! We are not talking pennies or free with Gia. She cost him $500. so why would he want another one from you instead of a refund? Like you said, you as the owner of Gia would like to know what it is she died from so that you can take the necessary precautions to make sure that it doesn't spread to the other pups. (although, you know Gia was a healthy pup) I think as a Yorkie Community that we are here. Someone that maybe lives in the Bay City area can help you out too. With visiting the house (outside) of course to see if Gia is still alive if it is too far for you. Hopefully it would make you feel a little at ease. Not the fact that she is living with someone who tried to get over on you more than once but, to know that she hasn't departed in a way that her mommy has no idea of how. We all support you!!! The more I think about this, the more I think Gia may indeed be alive and well. Someone needs to investigate and turn him in for fraud if she is alive. IMO. |
